I’m considering the purchase of an Astrolux S41 and 18650 tube. Is it still worth buying?
Yes, definitely worth buying the S41.
Not many small lights on the market that can produce that much high CRI light.
Do consider it’s sibling the E14 though, higher quality and more LED choices (including 219C).
If you are interested in a long tube anyway you should also consider the new DQG Tiny 26650. More output, superior efficiency, great UI, good quality. Fair pricing with coupon codes which you will find in this forum.
With Astrolux you usually receive an unfinished product. Expect to do some grinding/sanding/soldering just to get a working torch.
I think so, I enjoy my S1, the short tube version.
The UI is truly the best.
Light color can be great, price is great, sure, go for it.
Get some high drain batteries and you have way over 1000 lumens out.
I have been very happy with my E14 (219 version). It is a light I would definitely buy again.

I have an E14 and two S41S. A little heavy but nice looking light. With both driver and tail springs bypassed + VTC6, it’ll be too hot to hold in 20 sec on turbo.
Ok, I did the purchase of the astrolux S41 w/ nichia 219b and the 18650 tube. Couldn’t pass up the copper head. The M4D M4X codes still work so the discounted banggood price for the light itself was a bit over $8 lower than gearbest’s discount on the last manker E14 w/ nichia 219b they have in stock. Looking forward to popping it into the oven and baking it to a nice brown color that will look really nice contrasting the bright copper.
Really? purchased two, lost one got another. both worked great out of the box! amazing amount of light!
just found this at amazon prime :
$27.50
and if you add the 18650 tube, you’ve made the $35 cutoff to get free shipping? DEAL!
The S41 was delivered today. 13 days from order to delivery with the 97 cent shipping upgrade. Disassembled and ready for the pre-bake cleaning.
I hope you enjoy your S41 tekwyzrd. I have two with Nichias; one regular and one with an extension tube. They’re great and easy to program. You can do the spring bypass mod if you want even more power, but I didn’t feel it was necessary for my purposes. I also have an S01, E01 and E02, all in WW. They are great lights IMHO.
i want to buy any Astrolux-but iam lost in this informations…which one is the best?the brightest? of course rechargeable would be the best solution for me…thanks
I think an emisar d4 would be a better choice.
well…its much brighter…and more expensive sadly…but i dont like it…i think the turbo is just for seconds….and the rampage type-not sure i like it.
I’m thinking about one. Have an S42 and like it fairly well. The pros of the s41 are the copper head and good clicky ui. The S42 in contrast is rechargable, lighter, and has a side switch, but the ui is challenging. They both seem like a pretty good value if you want Nichia emitters.
If I had to choose, the S41 would be better, but for one specific reason:
the fact that the S42 is horribly inefficient because it uses a FET only driver, meaning every mode except for turbo(obviously), could be much more efficient than it actually is.
To my eyes, the S42 is the cost cutting measures that got applied on the S41 in exchange for an e-switch and a terrible UI.
I love my S41. It’s tsken up duty as my daily bicycle light.
I love the tint versus what’s available on standard bike lights.
I go between the S41S and the BLF A6 for bike lights.
Both work great just what feels right for the day (night).
