Hey everyone, I have a Astrolux S41S Quad Nichia and want to change the driver to a biscotti driver from a convoy s2+. Will this driver work with quads and most importantly will it change the max brightness? Thanks!
The driver in the S41s is the same as in the BLF A6. It’s a driver with a FET, so it is direct-driven. It is acting as a switch. De max. power delivered depends on the resistance in the leads/switch and the quality of the battery. With a 30Q it can get as high as 10A.
AFAIK the drivers in the Convoy S-series are all regulated: the max power depends on the number of AMC7135 installed. That brings us to a total of 8*0,35A = 2.8A max. It is safe to assume that this cannot match the brightness of the original driver.
