Sofirn SC21PRO or non PRO?

OR

VAPCELL T8

OR

NITECORE NL169R

Please help, totally confused

The Sofirn SC21 is a torch, not a battery.

Of the two options for batteries the Nitecore is protected which the product page for the scuba light says that it needs, so get that one.

From the Xtar site:
[Compatible with CR123A/ Protected 16340]
You definitely want " protected" IF you get a 16340. Rechargeable is not absolutely necessary.
Unprotected has a fair likelihood of being over discharged and damaged in an application like this.
(FWIW, protected will also simply ‘go out’ suddenly when it hits cut-off. This could be an issue for some uses if the beacon location is a critical necessity, maybe even for finding it at the end of a dive.) Non-rechargeable will get weaker giving some notice. It does seem to have a low power reminder function, a good feature.

CR123A are relatively cheap and easy to come by. Might be a better option unless you are actually using it a LOT.

Scuba diver here, been there. I have a high powered UW strobe light. Didn’t find much use for it even on night dives in murky NW water at night.

Hi All

Excellent advice, I will go protected.

I do have a super powerful white strobe, but the Xtar can also be used as a non strobe beacon (easy for people to find me) as an instructor, so it will run all the time.

I do need rechargeable.

NITECORE NL169R - where is the best place to buy these please?

I have the NITECORE D4 charger atm.

If it’s gotta be Amazon or Ali you have few options.
NITECORE NL169R
Personally I wouldn’t buy a small cell that is USB charged. Some of the capacity is displaced by the electrics.
The rest of Amazon in that size is ‘unknown’ brands and probably shouldn’t be trusted.
Aliexpress - seems ALL of them are unknown and rampant with bogus claims for capacity. If you buy there you are pretty much on your own.

Seems like your location creates problems for lithium access?
There are numerous choices like LION Wholesale for the US.
Most of this group shops sites like this, unless they are taking a wild ass guess/hope on Ali.
