Battery Hookup unbranded CR123As - starting @ $0.50/cell

Available from Battery Hookup in 10/100/400 packs:

  • 10 @ $5: $0.50/ea
  • 100 @ $45: $0.45/ea
  • 400 @ $160: $0.40/ea

I came across this deal weeks ago, ordered four 10-packs last week, received today. The few that I have put into lights worked as expected.

I have no affiliation with this seller.

Very interesting, just picked up a 100 pack. Thanks for the link. Anyone know any tricks to figuring out the manufacturer?

Not sure. Here’s a comparison to the brands of cells I swapped out.

What’s the shipping cost on these? I imagine for 40 it’s fairly low per cell. I bought 6 cells on Amazon for $5 shipped a couple months ago. They tested out very good.

Shipping high - $9.50 for 4x 10 cells. If they’d had anything else I wanted I would have added it to the purchase and assume the shipping would be about the same.

So $30 for 50 cells is a great deal!

Not quite. I bought 4x10 for OTD price of $29.50 (less sales tax, natch). 5x10 should be $34.50 assuming flat shipping cost. Regardless, I recall shipping cost being presented before committing to the purchase.

They have free shipping on orders over $2000

I paid $63.13 for 100 out the door, $13 for shipping and $5ish for taxes.

How long does 100 cr123 cells last for you?

100 cells will last me a year or two most likely. Though I have been on an Elzetta and Malkoff kick lately…

The vents look the same as the Panasonic rebrands, could these be American made?

Wait. I have at least one Panasonic. Last comparison shots for the detective inclined.

The shorter apparent height is deceptive: the rewrap removed the shallow recess on the negative contact present on the other cells.

Are you saying the black rewrap cells you bought are not shorter?

The Overall length of CR123a batteries varies.

The Olight on left wrap is only 0.1mm above the metal can. The Surefire on right has a 0.7mm deep collar above the metal can, but the button to can bottom lengths are both 33.4 mm:

How @jon_slider put it. The outer cylinder dimensions can vary due to the negative end recess (spaced out by a plastic washer on the name brands) and presence or absence of an insulating collar around the positive contact. But the + to - (button to can) dimension and outside diameter (OD) will be within industry spec.

Received my order of 100 cells, it was very well packaged, two boxes of 56 each. I’ll have time later this week to try and identify the manufacturer.

I did two run time tests over the week and both sets of cells performed great, similarly to US made cells. These seem like a good buy.
