I have ordered this Ganzo Knife set at Exduct, http://www.exduct.com/Chinese-Folding-Knives/Ganzo-Knives/GZS04-Ganzo-Knife-Set.html
It contains the Ganzo G701,G702,G704 and G710 knives.
The order was begin November. Because it took so long for the delivery I was investigating the matter and it seems the customs has seized the knife set.
How is it possible ? These are just ordinary folding knives. Not special assault weapons.
Any idea how to persuade them to release the shipment ?
Scaru is right, all depends on the belgian laws. Maybe one item is considered to be illegal, or a copyright infringement, who knows… could even be a tax problem. Didn’t they give you any hint at all?
LOL, possibly, however US customs routinely confiscates shipments of counterfeit and fake goods. Some countries have different laws, I have no idea about Belgian law but years ago I could not send surplus IBM parts to Germany, they had to be sold by the German IBM company. Since they were obsolete/obscure token ring network cards I made them a gift to the grad student that needed them.
You need to find out your local laws. One hand openers recently became a “prohibited import” into Australia, although not illegal to own or carry. (Multi-tools are exempt). Some crap to do with a deal with the green party (our minority government needs them on-side), I think. The last knife I bought online was opened and inspected before receipt, which is very unusual in my experience.
The laws about importing knives are stupid. I own a katana and the seller which was based in Europe has never problems selling them in the EU.
Every kitchen chef knives are bigger than this Ganzo knives.
I heard on the phone from the shipping company that the package has been seized but a formal letter from the custom has to be arrived. I need to know the exact reason for this.
I think the people at the customs needed a Christmas present and seize my package.
Blord, your last sentence is the vital clue. Thus no need to focus on the exact reason. But you still have a chance : Belgian Customs can quote some tax which one just pays for the release of your 4 folders.
No matter why they did that, they just can't take you stuff and keep it without telling you. They have to officially inform you and state their reasons.
If they don't, go to the police and have them investigate the theft
Blord, wait until you get the letter from customs. Here in Germany i’ve been to the customs office several times in the last months, normally because of taxes issues… or at least that’s what they said in the letter. Once i got a couple knives form exduct i got a letter saying that my package was kept because of lack on invoice on it. Kind of BS i could expect from Dx but not from exduct. I went there and the guy looked kind of disappointed… i checked the package and, et voila, the invoice with all the info was right there… i tried to complaint because they made me go there, spent a whole afternoon for their f#$!ng lie. Nothing. I guess they expect most of the people to give up their packages in exchange of not losing time and money going there.
Had never real problems with customs, when they keep my packages I drive to them show invoice and pay the tax.
The last 3 times I don’t even did this, I just send them the invoice with an email and got the package after one week with the normal post delivered…
It’s not worth to pick up a 5$ order personally.
Which packages they keep isn’t clear for me and for the guys who I spoke too it wasn’t clear too. Seems to be the check on the airport.
I am not so firm with the laws so I never order big knifes, and now they have prohibited to wear a one hand knife so I won’t order another one, because I have enough of them laying around.
Hope you get the Ganzo 710. It is one of the best of the Chinese budget knives.
I just placed an order for 5 knives from Exduct. Had to try a Ganzo 711. That knife keeps calling to me.
Lucky you…. 4 Sipik68 were kept at Zollamt for a couple months (though i sent them the invoices and they finally confirmed it was OK), then delivered to DHL (or they say so) and never arrived. Called them many times: Zoll says DHL is responsible, DHL says they can’t track my package because Zoll didn’t give them any ref. number….
After some emails hence and forth the customs decided to release my shipment.
First I received a form which I have to fill in all necessary data, like the copy of the invoice, origin of the product and company etc. Two days later the postman delivered the Ganzo package. I have to pay an additional $30 tax for the 4 knives.
The content has been checked by the customs. The fingerprints are all over the blades and I think they use the G710 for some cutting. It wasn't pristine anymore.
Well this was a costly and long overdue order. Before the releasing the package I had order a new Ganzo set because I tough the first ones are lost.
