Ok guys let’s use this thread to recommend the best $30 counting the shipping light that you would recommend to anybody. When the word budget comes to mind, $30 is what comes to my mind and that will vary for others. But there are quite a few good lights out there at this price, and there are getting to be more and more all the time.
I would have to say the Small Sun ZY-T08 would by far be the best one that I know of. I’m more in to XM-L throwers, and this light will beat them all for quality and throw for the price that’s currently on the market from my knowledge.
No, From what I’ve read the hd2010 is the better thrower but not quite as cheap as the small sun.
I’ve got a zy-t08 on the way to me and am hoping for greatness…
I would say the Small Sun ZY-T08 would give the HD2010 a pretty close match. It will out throw the Small Sun ZY-T13 by about 15% or so. And it’s a lot better quality. And the HD 2010 isn’t $30 shipped. The T08 is said to put out 41,000k. I would say that is very close. It puts out 600 OTF lumens. And it throws with the big reflector.
couple nights ago we had the largest thunderstorm of the year, drainage grate outside was blocked by leaves and hail. needed to get wet... i'm sure any of my "budget" lights would have sufficed. sure, i had countless sipiks, a couple uf2100, couple of wf-501b by the door, but I went to look for my fenix e21 instead. umbrella was no use, got soaked. glad I had my fenix.
Depends on requirements, as an all purpose light for someone lithium savy, I’d point them at an xintd c8 and be done, but what if its just a general Joe public? I’d probably recommend a Maglite led, its unlikely to fail, runs on whatever you can lay your hands on at a local store, will flood to throw, can be used as a club/hammer, is familiar to an average person.
My point is, the spec is too ambiguous to make a real recommendation, all the above are flashaholic suggestions that I agree with, but I wouldn’t suggest one to my careless mate.
i paid 30.34 shipped for my hd2010 this week from tmart after 8% code inspire and singing up for their newsletter (got me like 50 cents more off)… ordered tuesday arrive thursday lol
I’d have to say a Solarforce L2 with any module of your choice. Makes for flexibility and repairability and is definitely a reccomended light to own for any budget minded collection.
