Best budget tv at Walmart

I’m thinking about getting a bigger tv. I’ve had a 65" TCL that I bought at Walmart on black friday about five or six years ago. Just the cheap model, and it’s been fine for my streaming and gaming uses, with decent picture quality, for my eye anyhow. Dark scenes definitely have some trouble with ghosting or whatnot, but i can deal with it.

Does anyone have experience with ONN brand tv’s? They have a 75" for right about 400 bucks, and i can’t really find a reason not to get one, vs a smaller, more expensive tv with a bit better picture quality. It even claims to have a 120hz refresh rate, which should be good for gaming, not that i really care much about that, as i don’t play a ton of games.

They have some more expensive Samsung tv’s that do look a bit better, and i think the Hisense tv’s look pretty good, picture quality wise in the store. I was kinda thinking about going with another TCL, as they are alright for the money, and there’s a few amongst the different family households that are holding up alright, but I’m not brand loyal by any means on budget sets.

Part of me wants to spend about the same on a 55" with better picture quality, but at such a low dollar budget range, I’m not sure it would be worth it vs going with a bigger 75" tv. Then again, with pixels every pushing higher, maybe I should consider like an 8k or some other ultra high definition unit, and just sit a little closer.

What would you guys do? Are there any pros and cons that I should be aware of? I kinda want to pull the trigger before tarrifs drive prices up, and would prefer to pick up locally vs ordering through Amazon or whatnot, but would definitely consider ordering online for the right deal. Probably won’t but another tv for a long time, so it’s worth it to get some opinions.

Thank you. I’ll check out some models on there and try to find something that doesn’t break the bank. Not sure in budget yet really, just thinking it may be wise to make a decision before the tarrifs hit.

My largest TV is a Samsung 4K 43"
My favorite TV brands are Samsung and LG, though I like Samsung more.
Good luck in your search! :+1:

4th of July and Memorial day around the corner. Mega sales. Better wait.

After looking at rtings.com, I may have talked myself into splurging a bit instead of going bottom barrel cheap. The 85 inch Hisense U7N looks pretty good on paper, and I could stretch the budget to swing it, but it sure would be nice to see one in person before that large of a purchase. Can’t find one in a store within three hours of me, but if I’d be willing to drive about 3.5 hours, I might be able to see one at the Best Buy in Bollingbrook, IL (Chicagoland). Now I’m trying to not listen to the little voice telling me to try to afford the U8, but I think I just may pull the trigger on the U7N.

Now the only dilemma is whether to wait a month to see if Memorial Day brings big savings, or if prices will go up before then due to tariff shenanigans. I’m thinking that current stock shouldn’t be affected pricewise, but then again, none of us have a crystal ball that actually works, and I’m slightly impulsive and want it now, darnit!
