I have 10 of them around the house in my highest usage locations.
First, ignore the label where it says “40 watt replacement”. This is truly one of those rare events where a manufacturer has underestimated the performance of their product. This bulb will match brightness in a side by side comparison of a 75 watt bulb NO PROBLEM.
- It’s DIMMABLE!
- It has NO STARTUP LAG!
- It doesn’t have the 60hz “flicker” (looks just like bad PWM) that some of the other cheap bulbs have.
- The color is a nice neutral white, it’s perfect!
- Build quality is SOLID, at least double as heavy as the next closest comparable bulb I’ve purchased.
This bulb is nice.
As a comparison, I have purchased approximately 14 different led bulbs from DX, and none have even come close to comparing with this on ANY level. The very best of the DX bulbs was this one , but it’s about the same price, it’s not quite as bright, and it’s not dimmable.
I have one of those in my entry stairwell, and I agree with your rec.
The bigger brighter brother is currently residing in wifey's reading lamp. My only gripe is that it doesn't dim quite as low as its incan counterpart for nightlight duty.
From what I can see from the photo that is what I would guess. Saw a bunch of bulbs claiming to use XP-E LEDs, I think I worked it out as being abut $2 per LED if you pulled them apart? Will see if I can find a link.
Something in the 15-18W range should do nicely. A good rule of thumb is an incandescent is effectively 10 lumens per watt. Most descent LED bulbs are effectively 50-60 lumens/watt and getting better.
You will need a 15 watt LED bulb to truly replace a 75 watt incandescent. My house has over 300 bulbs… all LED now. I have tested just about everything out there… oh, the pain, SOOOO much lies and crap…
