I was the first to love e-switch for all the good things (shortcuts to whatever mode, side accessibility…) yet my EDC is a Thrunite T10 with a tail clicky.
Keep in mind I own or have owned every model sold by Olight for the last 2 years… and though I did EDC an S-mini for a whole year after another year of EDCing an S1, well I’m back to clicky.
In term of deploy-ability (if that exists ?), a tail clicky is faster for me (clipped in my right pant pocket, with a little tail to grab it)
I agree that Memory (well UI as a whole) is a personal taste before everything, so let’s say that you should be able to activate or not with a simple operation (micro-switch under the driver maybe ?)
Or make a tail e-switch (I can’t wait for the FW3A) but in AA form factor !
Problem is, to have an e-switch in the tail you’ll need a second contact between the head and tail aka a double wall tube… not the greatest idea to keep the light slim !
the tool AAA ti has an eswitch according to specs, but maybe it cuts the power like a clicky? we’d need someone with a tool ti do disassemble the tail switch to know
Yup! It would be nice to know how this would work on a ramping UI.
I guess the work being developed by TK and the team of FW3A (along with Lumintop) would be benefit this discussion (here or elsewhere) if a new AA/14500 project emerges.
I also would prefer a light with less modes (3 instead of 4 or 5). For some reason a lot of lights now seem to use ~ 100 lumens for a “medium” mode which annoys me. If I have fixed modes, I want a longer lasting practical medium mode. From what I’ve seen most lights can do around 8-10 hours at 50 lumens and only around 4-5hrs at 100 lumens.
“Worst is any Coast Flashlight because they are exspensive and all have purplish hue beams.”
Many Coast lights do have unpleasant blue tints, but not all. My HP3 is quite blue.
My Coast HX5 has a nice white tint and is $20 at brick and mortar stores. It’s my most used light. Very easy to grab by the head when clipped in my back pocket.
I will buy one of these, soon, to mod it (just to use with 14500s)!
I like the form factor, and also that it is a push-pull (not twisty) zoomable! :+1:
BTW, can you confirm the diameter of th driver, please? Thanks in advance :+1:
Don’t. Lookit the spring in the tailcap. I just went off on the damnable AT01s for having those ballpoint-pen springs. The switch inside will be just as crappy, and it’ll be flickering in no time.
I donated a pair of AT01s to mum, bypassed the drivers to run DD from the 3×AAA carrier (so no driver issues), and it still flickers like crazy. Bap the switch and it stops flickering for a little while, then back again. No contact, some contact, maybe contact.
Save yourself the ag. Seriously, unless you intend to waste lots of time trying to transplant an Omten into that ’cap, it won’t be worth the bother. Especially trying to run 14500s…
It was the tailswitch.
Αs you have figured out, I have no idea of flashlights. :person_facepalming:
But I love to disassembly things.
I hope this time to measure the correct part.
Thanks Lightbringer, Kramer5150 and kostasb!
Those indications demoved of buying it… I wanted a AA/14500 zoomable light to mod, in this “form factor” but this doesn’t seem to be the best one for that
I will not go through that work of full switch replacement.
Does anyone know any reliable AA/14500 zoomable light, tailclicky, easy to mod (driver and emitter) on this short and tube form?
If I don’t find a suitable one I may leave this option aside and opt for an On The Road i3…
