Best single-mode 18650 light? C8?

Looking for a nice simple single-mode 18650 light. XM-L preferred. NW would be great, but not mandatory.

Have a few C8s I have been considering, but might be open to other models of lights as well….

What is the current best single-mode XM-L C8 or other 18650 light???

Thinking I might like a light like that that only has one mode also. The closest thing I have is a Romisen RC T601 ll that I got from Shingbeam. Has 2 modes but they are both so close that I can hardly tell the difference. Very bright light and my best single cell throw light.

Jacob a60 direct drive, very good fun little light and definitely suits the blf monicker.

i bought the ultrafire ss bezel from hk and i like it a lot a t6 very bright and very nice look it have at tail cap 3.3 amp and the beam is super nice and i throw far.

Best of them all, no overheating, great build quality!

Actually, already have a Jacob a60 and XinTD C8. Should convert my a60 to direct drive now that you mention it. The next mode memory is awful.

XinTD c8 I have is a 3 mode. Fantastic light for sure. Looking for something different though.

It does seem like 18650-powered single-mode XMLs are kind of rare… let alone a neutral one!

any beamshots??

Here is what I would go with:

or the UltraFire you linked.

Joe: thanks for the KD link.

There were 3 diff Ultrafires in my first post. Which are you referring to?

The XM-L2 one.

Gotcha thanks

Joe: Noticed the KD C8 you linked shows input voltage of 3-18V. I’ve heard some drivers that handle this broad input range can have low output when running much less than 18v… do you have this light from KD? How bright is it? Tailcap readings?

RaceR86 just received it and it's not so good. See this thread. 2.1A on high, and out of regulation once the cell is below 4.1v.

Just find the right 1-mode driver and put that in your light of choice….

I have one of these Romisen RC-2R4 with XP-G R4 3D neutral tint from Brian at Shiningbeam:

Romisen RC-2R4

Nice solid compact with a smooth tight beam. Nice neutral tint and efficient driver.

I take it the C8 is using the same driver as the P60 dropins? Because that is what RaceR86 received.

That's a real bummer if they do.

Oh true. I mixed end up the fact his was a P6 drop in and we're talking C8's here. Good chance it's the same driver though.

I dunno 2.1A might work out in this case. What would be approx lumens and runtime with XM-L2 @ 2.1A? I might be able to settle for a compromise of the two.

Damn I forgot to test mine with the factory driver.

Now puts out 36,480 lux at 3.76 amps. at 2 amps will be around 20k lux, dunno what that is in lumens, but is definitely a good amount a light for such a low current, would last 1.5 hours on a 3100 mah cell.

Use this handy calculator to figure out what Lumen and current level you want for your 1-mode.

I just got it after 51/2 week wait nice a little cool another option is Lightmalls C8LU3 for 3.00 $USD less and I can’t visual see a difference with the naked eye.
