Best "Tactical" Weapon mounted light

In THIS realm of tactical light, tac-light, weapon mounted lights, etc, there IS some discrepancy between A lab and real world TESTing. POSTer children like surefire and streamlight come to mind, DO you have any recommendations, or lights i should NOT be looking at? RESPOND politely please, IF we are to have any semblance of HUMAN decency…

The capacity for real world weaponlight TESTING applies FOR humans and machines like ROBOTS, which can be seen as extensions of humans…also, IYKYK.

You really can’t go wrong with any of the big brands like SureFire, Streamlight, Modlite, and Cloud Defensive. Lifetime warranties and decades of use by many militaries and LEOs. Olight has their Odin series (I’ve tested a couple, the big and small ones), and the Baldr. I generay liked them and really liked the mounting options. Be aware the more you spend, generally you’re paying for the name and warranty at that point. Fenix also has nice ones, and there’s somw from Rovyvon also, but for weapon lights, i sort of defer to the established proven brands.

I’ve been on this forum for a while, my interest in lights pre-dates, for example, the green tinted LH351 and also these other things that spoil the hobby, I’d like to think my “experience” is convincingly reliable, if you read between the lines.

To bump this thread for the original purpose , a large number of people assume the best weapon lights are made by malkoff, surefire and elzetta, but there are quite a few threads of un-modified convoy lights mounted to various weapons, which are successfully surviving multiple larger gauge rounds.

Often these threads discuss the need for potting or springs, which will improve general reliability anyway.

I’ve used, sorry, tried to use Convoy S2+'s, as weapon lights. They did work for a while. Every single one of them, 5 in total failed after more than a few rounds. 2 didn’t last 25 rounds and the other 3 never made it past 200. 1 was spring failure, 1 was emitter failure and 3 were driver failure.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not taking a dump on Convoy. I love their lights and they are great lights for the money. I have had the $5 weapon lights off ebay and i have had the $200 ones from the USA. The one light that has never let me down has been ArmyTek. The Partner C1 and C2’s. Can’t speak for the rest of them. They haven’t failed in 5+ years.

Let me elaborate on how they are used. I shoot a lot. I don’t throw them down in the mud and wash them off with a garden hose but, they do get a lot of rounds put through them. As any accessory does around here, they all start at the end of a Mossberg 500 12ga 18.5in cheap as they come shotgun. Nothing special about it at all. They are just my around the property type guns so they see lots of use. If they don’t make it past the Mossberg they don’t get trusted to use on anything else.
