I bought two for myself and have sold a couple as well. Built in USB Charging, 1300 LM, 700M of throw. In tests it actually outdid the Manker U21 though I’m not really sure how, it’s got Manker guts.
The nitecore P30 is also a nice light and very handy size. 18650 battery, dual switches and a nice UI. 1000 lumens and 675 meters of throw. I can get you one for $65 shipped in the U.S.
“Utorchdeal” coupon on Gearbest gets you the UT02 for $39.99. Just noticed that.
Of course you cant go wrong with the Convoy L2. I have one and got one for my neighbor. Tried and true, plenty of heatsink and simple UI. It’s way underrated in my opinion.
Lots of us ordered the new Thorfire S70s at AliExpress for less then $40 (Elfeland store kicks in some coupons automatically) so expect a lot of input on this.
My S70 reaches 820 meter stock
If the s70 really reaches that far, it’s prettty impressive. It seems to give up a bit to the convoy in overall lumen output. I expect candlepower output to be extremely similar in that both are running XHP70 quad die. I couldn’t find forward voltage rating for the Thorfire but I have seen the Convoy tested at 5.8A. I have not personally held the Thorfire so I can’t compare build quality to the Convoy. How well is it made?
Lumen output on stock lights is about the same.
The S70 is under-rated by Thorfire with most reporting 3,600-3,800 (myself included) compared to the Convoy”s 3800 lumens with a CW emitter.
I do not have an L6 to compare but I think the build is very good on the S70 & possibly handles heat a little better from what I have read plus it has the illuminated mode switch & comes with a carrying sling & spares package.
I was waiting for the clear L6 to become available with an illuminated side switch but I have just ordered an S70s
At least 4000 lumens for $37 was just to good a deal to pass up :+1:
The S70/S70s is not a thrower as such but it does light up a long long way due to the massive lumen output :+1:
At $38 it is probably the best bang for buck high powered light out there & is very well built, like a tank
I am guessing that the same simple solder blob mod will up the out put to around 5000-5200 lumens the same as on the stock S70
TBH though the stock light at about 4000 lumens is very very bright as it is
According to Matt at ASF a stock L6 will do 75500Lux, and adding Simons smooth reflector will bump that by 13000 and land you near 88550. That should be right around $60
Unfortunately those are just arbitrary numbers without a direct comparison to other lights, and I can’t really say how far that translates…. others no doubt will have more experience and can hopefully comment.
I could have sworn he tested/reviewed a U21 / UT02… But I guess not, bummers that would have been more useful.
One things for sure, big reflector designs are not cheap. In this price range its going to be hard to beat an L6 or S70s.
Yeah, I ordered an S70s a few days ago on Ali and it was $36.48 but I think the price has crept upwards. (Still a solid deal)! Shipped out and I got a tracking # the following day from placing my order.
