Beware these Ebay seller ( scammers) around Christmas time

Hi all… lately i’ve been noticing a lot of sellers on ebay selling high end flashlights.
and i also noticed from all the pictures that they provided, all of them have the same background ( red shoes/sandal in the background)
at around this time of the year, they know it’s the most busiest time in shipping so there’ll be delay in receiving packages.
seems like all these scammers are actually coming from the same guy. it seems like he’s been opening so many business acct with ebay and advertising them heavily in ebay UK or AU ( but he knew most the buyers are from USA)
they will start opening prices at ridiculous $0.01 and free shipping for items such as these lights and popular HID flashlight right now
here’s are usually the methods of the scammer use.
.
he sold trinkets or other cheap stuffs just so he can get ratings usually around few hundreds.
and now they started to advertise heavily in high end flashlights and selling them at prices way below the market price
( it seems like he knew there’s a lot of buyers from forums like this site will go for crazy about those high end flashlights)
now if you bid it and lost… you will receive mail from ebay for second chance offer and like a sucker you probably want to take advantage of insanely low price.( i’ll admit i’m guilty as charged :P)
then he will take few days before he ship the package and give you the tracking #s and the package that he’ll send you is a small envelope with a trinket/bead bracelet inside with slowest mail available.

and he knew ebay buyers has only 45 days to claim for protection to get their money back.
all he was trying to do is buy himself sometime as you know ebay only have guarantee of refund in 45 days of purchase.
so he’s betting out of few hundreds or even thousands buyers… some of them will be a dumbass and keep on waiting for the package( after all… you can track the package)
this is the picture of the package that he’ll send you instead of your light

and of course he’s smart enough not to include his return address on the envelope.
and when you try to ask him for refund, he’ll be gone by that time ( close the acct with ebay)

so beware and save yourself some headache around Christmas time.
and if you already took the bait, email the seller ( sign in from ebay) and ask for confirmation # for the package.
that way you have proof that you were trying to communicate with the seller first, before you contact ebay to get your money back.
and REMEMBER you have only 45 days windows to get your money back

watch out for these sellers( it seems they also heavily advertising for lights they might not have)

Check the feedback for Junjun98… 10 buyers of the same GBP10 lamp (from the same day — Dec 13th) all give positive feedback within 32 minutes of each other. What a coincidence!

You’d think that ebay would get their heads unstuck and start to actually crack down on this sort of crap.

Thanks for the heads up.
Something sus about his feedback too.
Many positives for the same thing from low feedback users, with no product referenced. Looks like a scam.
Pity, those HIDS are tempting…

Really, too bad. There are always those who ruin it for everyone else, same situation almost universal in everything we do. Most Citipower re-sellers, have been great, go_market, pitalam, madison-computer88, lifebike2011, micro.digital, chinavally, bestsupply888, brotherhuang1983, have tried so hard to please, and one or two of these have lost money trying to make it right with me. I thought the stuff from junjun95_98 and xihai585, was too good to be true, love to have a 85 watt HID for 60 total. So be careful, beware of the scammers, but some of these Chinese re-sellers work on so slim of a margin. Example: selling a C8 T6 or U2 for 10 bucks, giving a tracking number, and shipping for free. Who, here, would risk that, or waste their time for so little. I love the Chinese for providing us with the gadgets that we play with, directly from their little shops for wee tads of money. Sometime when I go out to eat, I think, man I could have bought a Keygos M10 for that, or a couple of 502, U2s. People, we are so lucky, love it, live it, before it goes away…

i had good experience with lifebike2011 , that’s where i bought one of my bike light

Thieves.

May they all get a scorching case of untreatable syphilis.

lol… agreed

gaoxingfennu.

I had the high bid on a SkyRay XY-600 only to find out he sends packages full of powder or beads to give himself time. I’ve been lucky on eBay for the most part, however. This is the first real outright scam I’ve been a victim of from a Chinese seller. Usually the problem is inferior quality or a used/defective product.

I think the golden rule applies here (as with all other transactions). If the advertised price is wa…a…y below the normal selling price, something’s definitely fishy.
I think we all have to temper our expectations with a fair amount of “reality checks” as with everything else…

yeah… this is the first time i’ve been scammed too, i blame it on this forum for my flashlight addiction hehe
but the good news is ebay is on my side, i was told to escalate one of them tomorrow to resolution dept. and if the seller didn’t respond back ( i doubt it very much he will answer the emails) then they will give my money back  ( since i’m not the only one that complained about this seller, ebay takes it as the seller is a fraudster)

I reported the b*stard. It’s obviously a scam.

same phony crap that goes on at Amazon.

Daylighter, you should send this link or a copy of the thread

to Ebay's crack surveliance team. Took them over a year to figure out why prominent SureFire dealers were in fact selling Airsoft fakes on Fleebay. This is a good one - I lost a case the only case i lost against a guy that was selling knock off rifle stocks (Magpul )

I told the guy to arrange for shipping and pick for he's Airsoft junk

and Ebay came back and let him keep the sale Those selers have long been kicked off and you betthey have new stores and accounts...

The picture of the beads is a downer.. Thats terrible!

Thanks for the heads up

i mentioned these sellers to ebay customer reps, but she doesn’t seems too concern about it.
she only assured me that i will get my money back since i open the case within 45 days.
i believe it when i see payment back ito my paypal acct.

These sellers are probably leaving ebay for good - and trying to go out with a bang. Heck, a month’s worth of scam would probably be a year’s worth of honest profit.

If I know China at all, there are probably even syndicates creating legal ebay accounts, get a good honest 300+ ratings and sell the account.

Good timely post Daylighter.

I have been ‘dancing’ with shady sellers on E-Bay for years.
Many of the same bad traits from bad sellers.

I had recent dealings with this ‘scammer’: basa.100 / hitao9898 3 lights no delivery - full refunds on all….I took a flyer , oh wth
Sold beads and trinkets(cheap junk) to get rating up. Now shut down.
joined less than 1 year ago, usually in summer months to set up Christmas scams.
Listed hundreds of high end lights and zero feedbacks for lights = danger
All auction listings as private, so you cannot easily see items sold….bad practice.
If seller has had few sales of lights——stay away.
If seller does not offer tracking at all……use caution.
Never……NEVER allow your sale to go past 40 days. Even if you see your shipment coming. You may get beads instead of your light, like Daylighter.
My last fraud light buys were refunded by E-Bay within 1 hour of my posting of the report. Good for E-Bay, but you need to keep on top of it.

With this all said, I keep looking and looking at the listing from this guy:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/85W-8500-4300K-HID-Xenon-8700mAh-Torch-Flashlight-Camping-Hiking-on-sales-888-/251205760231?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item3a7d07b4e7
I may take a flyer on this one as well….NOT ——- lol
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, & quacks like a duck…….buyer beware!!

That's a pretty interesting looking HID. ;)

Hmm. Interesting. The last "HID" has exactly the same damaged Ultrafire cell that was used in the big SRK scam some time earlier ths year (or was it last year?).

It pops up once in a while and is a 100% sure sign of scam.

The private comments should be enough warning if the negative feedback isn't enough.

I´ve also ordered 2 flashlights from the scammer Hitao9898. He was removed from ebay, so I hope I will get back my money by the resolution centre.
