Bicycle light (powerful, light, waterproof, blinky)

Hi.,

I’ve put this topic in 18650 sub-forum, please feel free to move to appropriate forum if needed.

Friend of mine does a load of road biking, a bit of mountain biking.

Road biking includes night time stuff (he commutes about ten miles each working day but does 6hr rides for pleasure too)

He’s been knocked off before and wants to prevent a repeat performance……

Currently using a SolarStorm set-up he got off eBay (twin lights with some sort of Cree emitter plus separate battery pack, purportedly 5000 lumens) but he’s having connection problems and it’s basically not very good for his needs, especially with the fact he is getting low runtimes.

He’s after the following:

A single torch, removable battery (no separate battery packs), very good run times on highest or second highest/blinky settings, bright as possible, modes to include a blinking mode or two but the easy facility to change to a steady mode if need be.

I’m thinking an Astrolux S1 maybe? But is the blinky easy to start/exit from?

Your suggestions are welcome.

Regards,

Paul

Everyone wants as bright as possible with very good runtimes, can't have both. What kind of runtime does he need? Maybe you could look for a 26650 torch, I don't think saving weight is as much of a concern when biking. What's the budget? For under $25 you can recommend him a Convoy BD06 in my opinion.

Thanks very much - he’ll have a look at that one. He wants runtimes of a maximum of maybe 6 hours of strobe though I think he accepts that may be difficult to achieve. Nonetheless, if he has the option to just swap a cell over that is better than the light he has at present.

Any more suggestions are very welcome.
