Going trough my dad’s old workshop I stumbled upon these two colossal soldering irons :smiling_imp: . To get the perspective I put a 30W soldering iron between them. They are 350W both, made in Poland and god knows how old they are. I assume for at least 40-50 years old. Just wanted to share this interesting find with you guys. I wonder if anyone uses things like that nowadays.
I love the top one. 90* and aluminum head. Your Dad used them. What was his profession or hobby?
I have been kinda looking for a 110V 200+ Watt iron for the shop. To use when a flame ain’t too practical.
He use to make wire decorations and ornaments long time ago. It was his hobby. I also love the 90* aluminum head, I’ll try it tomorrow and see how it works.
I used to have a 250W gun for radio chassis work but it disappeared. Probably loaned out and we both forgot. Older Ham radio guys may have an extra one to sell- makes for a good place to look.

I have seen tinners use similar irons when building small copper gutter and when setting glass in lead. I have an old German made 400W somewhere, takes forever to heat up but when hot you can’t draw it down when heating many things.
Wow those are cool just to look at ,i found one goi g through my fathers stuff huge about the size of the bottom one but it had a huge triangular head on it ,yhose are pretty neat finds you got there.
Check around the back yard, probably a still kicked around
You will need a pair of thick gloves to work with it.
