Bike Mount for DX80 or beer can lights

Hey there - I just got my DX80 in and was wondering if anyone has mounted one on a bike? I can’t find any mounts that would be big enough and don’t think the zip ties would support it. I would hate for it to crash to the ground lol.

Thanks

Never seen any mounts for the big lights.

My .02 cents. When it comes to large heavy flashlights, dont skimp on a proper bike light mounts (like most other irresponsible nit-whits have). Because of its weight, your light will require a 1.5” or 2” ball mount system. My light weights far less than yours, so I went with RAM 1” ball mounts and drilled/tapped a 1/4-20 tread in the bottom of my SRK mod (beer can light) to mount the ball mount to the light. I bought the RAM u-bracket to 1” ball mount for the bike goose neck. My “bike light” has accumulated around 2500 total hours over the past several years and is now powered by a DIY 1S20P 18650 tail mounted pack. Enjoy your bike light, but if you cant quickly AND EASILY switch to a low mode immediately with a single button press, chose another light for your bike. Otherwise, you will very likely injure others and/or yourself (I can think of dozens of obvious and irresponsible scenarios). Search “RAM ball mount” and you will find dozens of mounting options with interchangeable parts to lego a sturdy mount. There are other manufacturers that make competitive products, but RAM is typically the most respected and price competitive. Enjoy and let us know what you came up with!

Even on a road bike I wouldn’t recommend a light as big as the dx80 just because it’ll be too heavy and too big. Imagine riding and all of a sudden it falls off. I’ll be crying my eyes out while picking the light up

Riding a bike with a flashlight that has the output of a aircraft landing light is excessive!

Of all the people to say such a silly thing! :person_facepalming:   Also, no aircraft landing light has near the lumens of that beast!

I made a tripod mount for my Meteor M43 out of a ‘quick release truss clamp’ and made a thread about it.

I don’t know the diameter of the DX80, but the 50mm / 2” clamp fits my Meteor and Q8 just right.

A bit of further DIY’ing could yield a sturdy mount for a bike.

I have a TN4A, which is a soda can light. I bought a mount on amazon, Two Fish The Cycleblock Lock Mount . I needed to use a different velcro strap for the one that went around my light, I suspect the one that came with it was a bit small. In general I am happy with it, but it does vibrate during my ride, so the beam moves a bit. I think the trade of is the actual force from the road transmitted to the light is lower since it is not hard mounted to the bike. Not necessarily the best mount, but fine enough that I am not looking for a replacement. Very easy to use, and I used it daily in the winter time.

Awesome so awesome! Thanks for the suggestions guys I’ll look into the Two Fish. My DIY skills aren’t up to snuff with you guys.

sbslider - hopefully there isn’t too much vibration but I’m buying one of the Two Fishes from Amazon now.

That is a freakin’ awesome clamp there! Great job on that!

Excessive? Blasphemy! I would use strobe but I’d likely have a seizure and crash

I mounted an Acebeam K40M on my hardtail…

hope it works out for you, as noted you’ll likely need an additional longer velcro strap to go around the light. I used one that came with a lezyne bike pump that I never used.

Would be better with two, DX80 for low beam and BLF GT for high beam!

@DBSAR, at that point, I think you would have been on the news.
