Biscotti problem

Seems like a defective driver to me. Even if the battery had really low voltage, the firmware would let you know by stepping down. I don’t think there’s a way to reset the driver. Since you bought it from Simon at the Convoy Store, he should be able to help. Simon is a great seller!

BTW, welcome to BLF tryTM!

The only lights with reset I’m aware of are lights with Anduril and the Unicorn. Biscotti has no reset function.

A button has nothing to do with protection. Your battery is not protected.

Mebbe it was bistro, then. One of them had a reset in the buzzy part of the ui.

Which LED is installed on the Convoy S2+.

I think the LED used (and driver) needs to be mentioned, since there are so many variants of Convoy S2+ right now, and there are now at least 4 different drivers for them...
(a) 5/3-mode group driver
(b) true Biscotti driver
(c) 4-mode driver
(d) 12-mode (Biscotti clone) driver

eg.
1) Convoy S2+ (XM-L2 LED) = often comes in the simple 5/3-mode group driver (but can also use the true Biscotti driver)

2) Convoy S2+ (XPL-Hi) = can come in the simple 5/3-mode group driver, or can also come with the true Biscotti driver (if purchased from Simon's Convoy AliExpress store), most other stores just have the 5/3-group driver

3) Convoy S2+ (Nichia 219C & SST20) = these generally come with the true Biscotti driver (they should likely work fiine on the 5/3-mode group driver but I haven't seen an S2+ with the Nichia 219C or SST20 that comes with the 5/3-mode group driver)

4) Convoy S2+ (SST40) = these can come with the 4-mode driver or the 12-mode (Biscotti clone) driver

5) Convoy S2+ (LH351D) = I think this come also with 4-mode driver or 12-mode (Biscotti clone) driver

From my experience, the true Biscotti driver (XPL-Hi / Nichia 219C / SST20) infrequently can have "stuck at low-level" issue.
I'm not skilled enough to change the driver on the S2+ when it's soldered (I'm not good at soldering).

But I've been able to change the "true Biscotti" driver on a Convoy C8+ (XPL-Hi) a couple of times (once on mine and once on someone else's Convoy C8+ that developed similar problem).
I'm not sure why this happens, but I wasn't successful in trying to reflash the Biscotti driver (based on what I read, need to "cut" one of the pins or the PCB trace to successfully reflash -- but I think I'm not doing correctly since I wasn't to successfully reflash), instead had to buy a driver and then unsolder old driver and solder new driver (easier on the Convoy C8+ to solder for me, since I wasn't able to unsolder the one on the S2+)

With regards to the 12-mode (Biscotti clone) driver, I have very little experience with this driver yet (I think I've got 3 or 4 different Convoy flashlights now that use this driver), but I notice that it seems more difficult to go to configuration mode setting (10-15 or more continuous clicks) than on the true Biscotti driver (my personal limited experience).

For the 12-mode (Biscotti clone), I sometimes need to do several times of 10-15+ clicks before it goes to configuration mode;
whereas on the true Biscotti driver, it's easier (at least based on my experience) to go to configuration mode.

Due to limited experience with the 12-mode driver, I have not yet experienced it getting stuck at low brightness level yet though.
Unlike on the true Biscotti driver, I've had myself and some friends who brought their units for me to check, and I've noted that their lights had become stuck in the low-brightness-only level..

The reset function is;

1.Pull driver
2.Slam with Big Hammer, driver is now reset and ready for the bin where it belongs.

Replace with BLF A6 driver and live happy.

It is this one.
Convoy S2+ (Nichia 219C & SST20)

The seller, Convoy Flashlight Store, offered to send another flashlight to replace the defective one.

Is there a driver or mode set that I should request in order to receive a reliable unit?

I just ordered a S2+ SST-20 from the same store and they already shipped it. Hope it is a reliable one!

Mine has given me zero problems. Like I’ve said before, there really is no reason for me to purchase any more 18650 lights after I got that one… of course, that didn’t stop me but I’m just say’n. Great light.
