“Bite Zones” on Lights

Ive heard a lot about Milwaukees Pen Light with the rubber “bite zone”. It got me thinking: why dont more pen lights use something similar? Even a silicone sleeve on an 18650 torch would make for a far better inspection light.

I, for one, am NOT putting anything containing a Li-ion in MY mouth! Nope, not happening!

This and 2 other threads relating to transmitting germs could be combined into one thread. It would make SB’s job a lot easier today.

One of the great feature of my old Eagletacs was the rubber ring that came with my P20C2 that also fit on my P200LC2, it allowed the light to tailstand without ever denting the surface it was on and also made the light “comfortable” to hold in the mouth when necessary.

It registers on a groove and hold very tight on the light, a very smart and usefull feature IMO.

The Terralux LightStar 80 has a nice bite zone.

Just add some vape bands.

The Olight S2A has a silicone sleeve over most of the tube

After I left southern California, I started wrapping black electrical tape around the ends of my mouth hold lights. Before then, it was purple.

So would you be ok biting a flashlight that didn’t have a battery in it?

What about AA or AAA lights (alkaline or nimh)?

i do that all the time, FW3A, anything else, have not been killed or maimed yet

wle

I frequently hold my flashlights in a mouth. A bite zone would be a nice feature…

I carry a 1-AAA twisty light in my pocket all the time, and fairly often hold it in my mouth to free up the hands. But it’s so light weight, it’s just between my lips and I’m not really biting down. I figure my pockets are clean from the laundering, and my light isn’t really dirtier than my own hands or mouth (do you realize how many bacteria live inside the human mouth? A lot!!). So, no big deal.

Hey, we all have lights we drool over, right? :stuck_out_tongue: Whatever doesn’t kill ya, makes ya stronger!

Would I be out of line to say that this thread literally bites?

Main issue is where have your hands been, before you put them on the flashlight and put the flashlight in your mouth.

Yup.

I’m a plumber. The plumbers rule is that you wash your hands before and after you go to the bathroom, never bite your fingernails and keep your flashlight out of your mouth. hahahaha

On the rare occasion I want a light in my mouth (as opposed to a headlamp) I seek out my little jetbeam. It has coated wire wound through the lanyard hole so when I bite it there’s no chance of slipping out. It’s also quite thin which is so much more than gaping open like a choir singer and drooling everywhere like a dog with rabies

I don't have any headlamps. I need to use my head for more than holding things, and I need to use my mouth for more than talking and eating.

Infectious agents? I used to get three or four routine colds every year, but since I went vegan four years ago, I have not caught a single cold.

I interact with dozens of people every day at the neighborhood community meeting hall; cold viruses are ubiquitous. My immune system, as well as all of my other systems are hitting on all eight ever since I detoxed off of the toxic slop and industrial sludge that people love to slam their systems with.

Well, anyway: mouth hold: I will soon pick my vote for the current worlds most powerful mouth hold light.

Nitecore TM9K 9 x XP-L single 21700 is a very strong candidate, but just a tad bit too front heavy.

Probably the same for the Nightwatch NSX3 3 x XHP50.2 single 21700, too. I will find out in just a few days.

Emisar D4V2 and Lumintop FW3A/s are very strong contenders for this lofty title, but the Nightcore E4K 4 x XP-L at 4,400 factory spec lumens just may squeak past them as the worlds most powerful mouth hold light. More will be revealed when it and the NSX3's arrive in the mail in a few days.

If I need more than my AAA Tool that lives on my hat can provide. The next logical step is 18650, at that point the best candidate is a headlamp after all.

I cringe at the thought of holding a metal thing with or near my teeth and some thing or person unexpectedly whacking it.

I often hold my BLF GT in my teeth.

For reelz though. Wasn’t there a device that you could put on the end of a mini maglite that was for holding the light with your teeth? The Nite Ize Lite Bite.

Here is something like that…
