Hello, im looking into buying a headlamp and ive deiced between the spot 400 and the storm 450 id like to hear your guys opinion on the 2 and which would you recommend for someone who uses it for hiking and general use
What do you want to use the headlamp for? Do you know how much light (brightness) and runtime you need?
Any battery preferences?
What do you have currently, and how could it be improved?
I don’t rate either of those lamps particularly highly, unless there’s a specific use case that makes sense to you? That’s not to say they’re bad per-say, just that I’d not choose either if I could only have 1 headlamp forever (which, fwiw, for a smaller format lamp, would have to be a wurkkos HD10 paired with their HD12 headband as it’s superior).

I don’t have any feedback on the Black Diamond headlamps, but I did just get a Sofirn HS21 and it is great.

I recommend against camping store headlamps that run on multiple AAA batteries, or proprietary Li-ion batteries. They always have poor regulation (output drops as the batteries drain) and usually have PWM (flicker) in low/medium modes. Most have plastic bodies that handle heat poorly. These traits have been considered unacceptable in the lighting enthusiast world for years outside of ultra-budget price points.
A budget of 140g weight and ~$50 price like the Storm 450 gets you a number of better options like the Convoy H2, Skilhunt H150, and with just a bit more weight, the Sofirn HS21 already mentioned in this thread.

Good grief, I was throwing out the budget Wurkkos reccomendations on the assumption these were in the $25 range!
Definitely “better” lights to be had for $50 unless OP has some very specific requirements that these lights fill.
