Black Friday Led Maglite $14.97 at Lowes

Its that time of year for the Lowes Led Maglite deal. Only good to Dec. 2

Only the 2D? T_T

 2D still plenty of room for…things.

(Thanks for the tip, was planning to head out in the morning to check. just have to pic what color I want. I don’t have a blue light yet… )

I haven’t looked too much into the build of a stock led maglite, only seen some beamshots…

How does the switch and head compare to Incan? Elongated like minimag led vs Incan?

They were $14.97 last year also. Picked up a couple. Glad I did.

ETA: price correction

Got online, and got one … Pick it up this Weekend

Is it Moddable?

Sure it is, but I left mine stock. Anyways, from what I read if ya really wanna mod get the incandescent version.

What I’ve read on them indicates that they’re built like a shi**y zoomie, in that the LED is the moveable part, so no heatsinking at all. I think that to be any good they need wholesale replacement of the pill/ect. I’m thinking the 53mm SST-50/XM-L reflector/pill that CNQualityGoods sells.

I cant believe I was able to actually get online and order that just now. And Free shipping to boot. I never go out to a store on BF but since the price of those reflectors went up to about 7 bucks each I figured I should grab a few of these.

I guess the only bad thing is no option to pick your colors this way, but I can live with about any of em.

The reflector in a LED 2D is a good reflector for making a fairly decent thrower. It's better with a larger die, like the SST-90 or MT-G2, but it works with an XM-L.

Having difficulty finding a breakdown of a stock led maglite. From the schematic on their site it looks to be pretty much the same, but a different bulb insert? Hmm.

Picked-up a nice blue one today. Not…quite as bad as I feared it would be. It will be nice having something to keep the X6 in perspective with, and it’s not totally useless. Plus…there’s always modding.

[EDIT] Don’t think I will mod this light. Just used it to take the dog out and you know what, it’s useable. When you get away from the need to obey the compulsion to turn darkness to day, and just need to see, a LED Mag isn’t bad. I’ve paid more for less before. and at ~1A, even alkalines won’t be bad.

Most of you probably already know this, but I wanted to point out that Maglite’s customer service is pretty awesome.

2 of my old incan maglites lacked the switch covers/seals (some silly person, me, probably lost them at some point).

I saw a post on another forum about Mag’s CS being great…

Anyway, called them up on monday and today I’ve got 2 new switch seals sitting in my mailbox at no charge ($3-5 per, from everywhere I checked).

FandyFire triple XM-L, HD2010, C8, and 502B, all XM-L.
His 2 favorites are the 2D LED Mag and the Sipik SK68, the SK68 being his favorite.

These flashlights have very nice anodized finish for $15, but plastic lens. Only has “clean” beam at tightest focus, but has good throw when focused. Gunmetal grey is the best color in my opinion.

You are right on all counts, except the last. At least today. My favorite color changes from day to day. That’s why I have one of each.
Today my favorite color is the Cherry Red.

And my wife says I have a problem, I don’t have a problem - I always have my favorite color.

I was in Lowes about 6pm last night and there was still a full rack of these. They just don't fly off the shelves anymore. I think the advent of the 500+ lumen Defiants and the like has caught up with them. I hardly ever use my Mag LED; if I do it's just to use it as a standard to show off other lights.

Side note, I'm not seeming to find a 3D Mag (Incan.) for my MR16 bulb mod. Looks like I'll hand to order that one online.

Another side note, anyone notice Walmart had a 500 lumen 6AA light (Ozark Trail I believe) on sale for $20?
