*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

That is the drawback of LeadAcid, SLA batteries, NiCad batteries, and even older NiMH batteries, is they have a short cycle lifespan & short shelf life. Lithium Ion 18650s can last for 10+ years, ( I still have some really old laptop 18650s i pulled from a 11 year old IBM laptop, and they are still working fine with about 70% of their capacity. In a lantern like the LT1 the lower amp drain they would work fine.

And similar arrays from Bridgelux.

These are 2 years old.

There’s no need to apologise, you’ve done nothing wrong , there’s nothing worse than not speaking up in fear of sounding negative & upsetting someone, negatives need pointing out ,that’s how progress is made, if problems are swept under the carpet & some people say “oh that’s ok for this to be wonky ,it’s not a problem for me because I don’t use this function “
The problems don’t get fixed .
This lantern has had a lot more testing than the usual “is it ready yet” items so all should be ok.

@ seven7seven

Here is a link to & picture of the Solar Charger that AguassissiM mentioned above. I have one to and I love it!!

Thank you!

Your welcome my friend. :+1: … I figured a link might make it easier on you. :beer:

@DBSAR

Thank you Den for your original recommendation of the solar charger.

@seven7seven

You’re welcome.

@teacher

Thank you for providing the link,I’m getting older and sometimes do forget to put down on paper everything that I was thinking of,sometimes couple of days later when looking at the posts my original thought comes back to me and I fix my mistake.

My pleasure, I was glad to to it AguassissiM. Thank you for mentioning it again in this thread & recommending it to seven7seven. :+1:

I have tested the same solar folding charger for a full week with the LT1 test unit, and using the lantern for 5 hours per night on high mode, the Eceen 10-watt pictured above charged the lantern to full charge each day, even on partly cluody days, meaning with that charger & the LT1 and a good set of 3000+ mAh cells, you have a sustainable off-grid light source for years, maintenance free.

Could you please add me for another two thanks !

You guys are really killing me here. Please put me down for 2 more, Sig.

Just got the go ahead from the Maestro de Cash to get some extra for the beach house. Please put me in for an additional 2.

4 Total

Thanks!

Below are the current counts per person which includes all the ones added through post #5798. Don’t forget to verify that your BLF user name is correct on either of these 2 links ( interest list by entry number or interest list by user name ) in order to insure getting a PM when the buy goes live. Both files pull from the same database table so it’s easier to look at the user name file since it’s sorted alphabetically except for 1 name which has an umlaut in it causing it to sort incorrectly :open_mouth:

This is a one-time only check so if you’ve already done so then there’s no need to do it again.

1 lantern = 805
2 lanterns = 330
3 lanterns = 78
4 lanterns = 37
5 lanterns = 8
6 lanterns = 4
7 lanterns = 2
8 lanterns = 3
10 lanterns = 1

Total lanterns = 1959

edited to account for post #5798

We are so close to reaching that 2000 mark!

83 people are getting 8 lanterns each!? Wow! :open_mouth:

OOOOPS!!!

That should be 3 people getting 8 and not 83 people :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:

I corrected my post to fix this, although I’m sure there are at least 83 people who want 8 lanterns :slight_smile:

That's quite the anomaly!

Yeah, well, I WANT 8 of them, but like my mom used to say “Want in one hand and pee in the other and see which one gets full faster.” :open_mouth:

I typed in the result set from my query rather than pasting it in as an image :person_facepalming:

This is the result from my query which should be accurate (at least it ties to the total count :smiley: ).

!

Doesn’t the saying that it’s better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission apply here? And you can always say it’s something needed for emergencies. And that you’re going to sell something else in order to pay for the lanterns? :smiling_imp:
