BLF LT1 Mini Questions?

Just got my BLF LT1 Mini – great job DBSAR, Sofirn and everyone else who worked on the project.

I have a few questions: can the Mini charge/run off of a 12V power source like the original LT1 does?

What is the operating range for running on batteries?

In a pinch, could you run it on 2X 18350’s?

And how much lower are the outputs in simple mode than they are in advanced mode?

Thanks!

The original LT1 is compatible with 2.7 to 4.2 V. USB input is 5 V. LT1 Mini is the same.

Maybe you are confused by the four batteries in the LT1? All are in parallel, so the voltage will never exceed 4.2 V.

No, that will damage your LT1 Mini.

You can change it to whatever you want. I think the default is both 100%.

I read the same thing that the OP did. It has been stated that the latest version of the LT1 (A2) can accept up to 15 volts in for charging due to using a buck charger.
1lUMEN. says this:
“Higher voltages up to 15 volts may be used as the charging system now uses a buck charger…”
But I have read the same thing in other places.

I don’t know about the LT1 Mini.

I put mine in advanced node almost immediately, but I don’t recall the levels being any different between advanced and simple modes.
If you have one you can test it, right? If you don’t see any difference, it is probably not worth worrying about.

AND, yes, using two 18350s in series would not be good at all!

It’s just USB. The controllers will negotiate a compatible mode. As long as your power source is USB compliant, you don’t have to worry.

There’s a big difference on mine. I set the floor on the ramp to 4 in advanced mode and when I switched it back to the simple mode it looks more like level 2, other steps are also dimmer in simple mode.

You can adjust the floor level in simple mode. Just set it the same floor at 4 in simple mode and then compare. I am pretty sure that if you get both configured the same, they will be the same output level.

Of course if you haven’t matched the settings, there will be differences… You did not mention that you had changed the default levels, BTW

I haven’t done this with the Mini, (I don’t have a reason to use simple mode) but that is the way it works on my other Andruil 2 lights.

Yeah I changed everything in advanced mode (didn’t know you could change the floor/ceiling/number of steps in simple mode?). I thought I would put it back in simple mode to make it harder to change something by mistake……everything I set carried over (tint, number of ramp steps etc.) except for the lower light levels.

From advanced mode and OFF
10H
then 7H
First flash is Floor
Second flash is ceiling
Third flash is number of steps (for stepped mode of course).

The adjustments are for the mode that the light is currently in (Stepped/Ramping)

That’s basically what I did. I don’t know of a way to set the simple mode independently of the advanced mode.

Find a good diagram. Look at the middle left where it says “10H Configure simple UI”
You need to do the 10H a second time…after you did it once to get into advanced mode.

Cool Thanks! I will have to play with it later. Will be nice to have a second configuration for the simple mode (different brightness levels and number of steps).

DBSAR has a vid showing 12V charging of the LT1 (@ about the 8 min, mark) -
