Boruit RJ-02 headlight... 2 thumbs up...

Ok, think I will buy one, thanks!

Only one?!?

Fwiw, I can’t see any PWM. Well, unless I hold it by the straps and swing it around in a circle.

Yes, PWM is very visible and makes this flashlight totally unusable on all modes except maximum.

IMO, PWM is unacceptable for headlights.

Obviously, your answer is incorrect. Why would you say this? Are you just trying to stir the pot?

If you can see it and most other people cannot, then that means you are sensitive to it.

I got my ’02 right here. Minimum setting (so a, what?, 10% pwm “strobe”), turn left, right, pretty quickly. Still don’t see any strobing.

Shows up on my phone-cam, sure, but Hell if I can see it.

Open water in your bathroom. Turn on the flashlight. Look at moving water.
Now try to forget this

The easiest way to forget it is to just not do it in the first place. Why would you try and enhance the effect? No thank you. I’m going to continue using it how I normally do, thank you very much.

Haha yeah I just ordered one a moment ago. Not gonna buy a lot yet as I already have another modded headlamp with custom firmware. If this RJ-02 turns out to be good then only I will consider to buy another one.

I bought it at $8.99. At this price if the PWM is not visible (or obvious) to my eyes then I will probably be satisfied with it already. The only possible simple mod that I can foresee is to swap it with an XP-L neutral white emitter.

Hey, if you want no-pwm, you can pay bigger bux for a light that goes all linear.

Me, I’ve never had a problem with it even on its lowest setting (what I usually default to anyway unless I need more oomf), so I’m quite happy with it.

And for 9bux, I’m even happier.

If you do want to see the PWM at the lowest brightness setting, instead of lighting up trickling water (which is going to show you a random flicker as the water moves), light up a small electric fan, especially lighting up from the edge.

But that’s the only way I can detect the PWM in my headlight. It’s my everyday use headlight.

PS, does everyone have a black rubber USB port cover labeled “mirco”?

Agreed: 9 Bucks - don’t care if it has PWM.

USB port - Both of mine have it, it’s a charge port. Great for me as an Android user, ALL my cables have the same end.

How would this be simple? It looks almost impossible. If you figure out how to do it, I would swap it out as well. It’s a bit too blue tinted for my tastes.

The only simple mod I’ve done was replace the reflector with a 60* wide angle lens. This really helps me as I use it for working on things when I need both hands free.

I have had 2 for some time now & can”t see PWM on any brightness.
Tint is not very blue to my eyes although I agree it is a little cold.
Why someone would say it is unusable except on high baffles me.
For the $6.99 I paid I think they are cracking little headlamps, & at that price I don”t care if I break or lose one

Well, I don’t know man, I thought it would be possible to swap the emitter by reading ImA4Wheelr tear-down thread of this light:

Not sure if it really “simple” to open up this light, but I think it is quite possible as long as the parts are not glued together.

The construction of this light is definitely not the same as our “normal flashlight”. We will find out when I receive mine soon.

Just bought one of these. Paid regular price, but I’m sure its worth it.
I’m pretty new to 18650 batteries. except for the LG HE2 that I bought for my BLF torch.
What batteries are best for this light? I searched for 20 minutes for something comparing 18650 batteries but couldn’t find anything comparing the diff 18650s and their uses/reliability

The RJ02 is a low-stress environment, so even laptop pulls are fine with it, and what I have in mine right now. Came from an ancient and completely dead laptop pack (HP squared/boxy laptop with a 4:3 screen, to give you an idea how old!), 2 cells registering 0V, and the other 4 took and held a charge at 4.2V.

The ’02 doesn’t really draw more than an amp or so. Maybe with just-out-of-the-charger cells, but…

You can feed it regular unleaded without worry.

What I mean is I’ve seen them from 10 for $10 to $15 each. And I don’t know if I need flat top or button top? Protected or unprotected? I assume I want a 3500 mAh?

Hi suprcharg. Flat or buttons will work. There are springs on both sides. So flat would be a little better in my opinion. If you will leave the cell in the light all the time, I would use protected. IIRC, the light doesn't have built in overdischarge protection. The protection might help with accidental overcharge, both when being used and not. The light has some parasitic drain (i.e. very slowly drains the cell while off). Periodically charge the light even if not being used at all. The more mAh the better.

Great info. Thank you thank you. Do high drain batteries work good as well? 10A 20A 30A?

Guess i will get these.

Don’t buy:

The 10 for $10 batteries
Anything ending in “fire” like ultrafire
Anything rated over 3,500 mAh (they are fake)

Personally I used a protected cell in mine. It sits on my forehead right over my eyes, so the little bit extra paid for a protected battery is well spent in my opinion.
