Boruit V7 EDC flashlight Review

Boruit V7 EDC flashlight Review

Hey folks it’s been a long time since I have done a written review, so I thought I would fill your eyeballs with words.

Today we are reviewing the Boruit V7 I picked the V7 up online for an amazing 8USD from a website called Temu not to be confused with an Emu. You can find the Boruit V7 for sale at Aliexpress link below and or Temu.

What is a Boruit V7? It’s an EDC flashlight with a few quirks that need to be ironed out by a steam roller. Nah in all serious it’s a well package, unique looking EDC that needs a few improvements. I will say its by far one of the better-looking EDC flashlights on the market I may be biassed as I built a light like this, but I like the design.

Build Quality

Overall, the build quality of the Boruit V7 is great the fit and finish is perfect in every way. Unlike similar flashlights in this category and price range the Boruit V7 features a full 6061 aluminium body that is anodized.

The anodising is of good quality appears to be hard anodising type 3 as its tuff and has been wear resistant. I have EDC the V7 for over a week and it still looks good.

The bezel is glued in place which is understandable you don’t want LEDs falling out the front if the light is dropped. I would guess the bezel is Stainless Steel, but I did scratch it with my tweezer trying to get it undone.

The Boruit V7 is IPX5 rated even with the built in USB type c charging port. The USB port is here to charge the internal 800mah lithium polymer cell. The USB port cover fits on tight and seals well but can be hard to grab once on, but if you want it work. Plus, the V7 is drop resistant to 1.5 metres, comes in handy for those times when you carry to much shopping and drop your keys.

The clip is plastic it feels sturdy but If you try and break it it will break, the Boruit V7 has indents where the clip sits so it holds on to the light properly.

The no lockout mode is a big no for me, the Boruit V7 is a rectangle flashlight so it won’t roll and activate like a normal flashlight. You can rock the switch on but I’m not sure how likely that would happen.

Size

  • Weights: 58 grammes (with battery)

  • Measurements

  • Length: 64mm

  • Width: 38mm

  • Thickness: 21mm

Output

The Boruit V7 features 7 LEDs in total it should have most of your needs covered.

Upfront the Boruit V7 is using 3 of the 351B LEDs its anyone guess if these are really Samsung LEDs. For the price I would guess they are not genuine Samsung LEDs, but stranger things have happened. I really hate when company state the LED is a XHP50 or in this case a 351B but don’t say it’s a Samsung LED it’s a bit misleading. Yet it’s not really lying as it could really be a no name 351B.

Buys new car, here is your new Civic buts it’s really a Hondont Civic.

  • Tint 5300k

  • Output measure by me: 1129 lumens

  • Output rated by Boruit: 1100

  • Candela: 3152cd

The turbo mode is only accessible from a push and hold mode and even thought I did measure 1129 lumens it stepdown quick.

I was not able to accurately measure the auxiliary LEDs output but I have attached photos so you can gauge output.

Modes and UI

This is the sucky part, the UI is a bit all over the place, I mean it’s a very well-priced flashlight so to me it is what it is.

No lockout mode (not so EDC friendly)

It does have a memory mode for both sets of LEDs, but it doesn’t work on the flashing modes with the auxiliary LEDs.

Push and hold power button to access instant turbo mode.

  • Turbo mode 1100 Lumens

Double click power button to access other front LED modes. Single click to change modes from here starting on high mode.

  • High Mode: 410 Lumens

  • Medium Mode: 120 Lumen

  • Low Mode: 65 Lumens

  • Eco Mode: 25 Lumens

To access the back LEDs the (auxiliary LEDS) I guess it’s the same thing but on the other button (one with the lightning bolt).

Push and hold second button it will always give you momentary white LED which is not as bright as the front LEDs. It did measure at a 6500k tint.

Double click will enter your last used mode, then push to cycle modes.

I did not measure the output of these LEDs, but the options are white LED, UV LED, red LED, red flash, red and blue flash.

Overall

Overall, the Boruit V7 is a great flashlight with a few kinks but it’s hard to beat at the price I paid, even at around the usual 13USD mark you can’t buy anything remotely as good for the price. Add to that the Boruit V7 has a unique and cool design its hard to beat. Once the V7 is opened you can always upgrade the driver and LED if you wanted and still be in-front money wise.

Beam shots are all taken at ISO 400 and 1/4s exposure

Eco mode 25 Lumens

Low mode 65 Lumens

Medium Mode 120 Lumens

High mode 410 Lumens

Turbo Mode 1129 Lumens

White AUX light

Red AUX light

Left side Boruit V7 (351B around 5300k measured by me) Right side Convoy S2+ triple (219c 4200k measured by me)

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Chris, how have you been man? Thanks for the review. It’s ridiculous you can get 1000 lumens for less than 10 bucks in such a small format… in a metal housing. Definitely a typical BLF worthy light!

Hey, good thanks been keeping a low profile on here every thread seems to go sideways lol, you?

Yea i think it would make a good BLF edition light if we could modify it slightly, whack on Anduril and change the LEDs to like a 519A. Maybe even put some coloured auxiliary LED’s under the optics upgrade to Carlco optics, all for a good price.

Everything in life seems to go sideways these days. I mean look at the weather, entire year so far was like cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, and then boom Canada is on fire. Like wut? But yeah, I’m doing ok here : - )

1 Thank

BORUiT continues to be a lot of bang for the buck!

Nice review everydaysurvivalgear. :+1:

We had the same but reverse, had a few hot weeks with a one day being 42 degree Celsius then it went really cold. It is winter here now but we had La Nina the last few years so winter was fairly mild.

Thanks!
They make some good lights.

Nice review. I just did an emitter swap on one of these and it does seem to come with lh351b’s.

It was definitely tricky to take it apart without destroying everything but the beam is much nicer now.

1 Thank

Got one in the mail today and had wondered why no one had talked about this light …. Then of course I click on BLF to do 44 second review and who do I see “sucking up all the limelight.
I’m with you … It’s the kind of light I’d been wanting for years. The Rovyvon Angel eyes was always only about $42 away from ever being a possibility. I think I paid 13? . Bought a gray colored version and it’s nice that it doesn’t have BORUITs name splashed all over the front of it .
I call it Borrow it. Bor U it it’s the easy cheap light that you don’t mind if someone borrows it then loses , breaks it or steals it …but I could be wrong . I call Fenix Fennicks Probably because it’s a better name for a flashlight than Phoenix.

You forgot to mention it has magnets in the base . Probably because they are only slightly magnetic .
You’re right about the UI it’s odd but I always try to look at it from a nanoholics view point . A lil odd but it could be really bad at this price point .
The body shape , size, color and design remind me of the trustfire Mini X .
Like you said it would be cool upgraded into becoming a BLF light .

2 Thanks

Yea i tried a few tricks nothing has worked yet.

I was locked out of my account on here as i set up a new password when BLF upgraded and i forgot it already lol.

The magnet is decent i am hanging the light upside down here behind my bench light, i have had worse magnetic lights before lol.

Yea its a great light only thing that needs some improving is the UI, i wonder if i can get in contact with Boruit and ask them to fix the UI for every ones sake lol. If it had a decent lockout that would make it great. Not sure if people would EDC this without a lockout? The button is out of way so its okay.

I used a bit of CA glue debonder under the bezel to get it to loosen before prying it out with a flat screwdriver. At that point I tried using a hot air station to reflow it through the front but ended up having to take whole thing apart. The top plastic part can also be carefully pried out with a flat tool and underneath that is a pcb for the switch which you’ll have to desolder before the led pcb can slide out.

The bezel is not screwed in place? Is it pressed down? If so i will just leave the light as is.

Yeah, it’s press fit in, but they also added a black adhesive underneath to hold it down which is a little overkill. The CA debonder helps loosen that but can damage the optic if you’re not careful.

1 Thank

Thanks for the heads up, i will probably leave my stock.
How did you get the bezel back in place? I don’t have a press but i could use a mallet.

It was a tight fit but I was able to press it back in by hand.
