For flashlights, I'm not all that loyal, but I do generally like BLF Special Edition flashlights, which are made by different companies.
For some other items, I am more loyal.
I love Kershaw knives, Leatherman multi-tools, Sony video game systems, Timex digital watches, Motorola smart phones, Big Skinny wallets, and Toyota vehicles.
I tend to be very brand dis-loyal. I typically base my buying decisions on what features and qualities I want the most and make a choice from those factors. To me brand is most relevant in that certain brands tend to produce products favoring certain qualities, and that may align better to what my preferences are. At the end of the day, I really don’t care what logo is on what, as long as it does what I bought it for.
The best value for the money and that is why ALL my current flashlights are from them or a company that they supplied.
Plus……
By far, the best customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. When I complained about the lack of flashlights in Amazon.ca, they heavily discounted Amazon.com purchases to take care of shipping. Now their Amazon.ca stock has also risen.
The fact that they are in China and still care as much is impressive.
Edit: In cars, I buy Benz. While I am loyal to my butcher and other local stores, I can’t think of any other “brand loyalty” as far as consumer goods. Usually, I seek out the highest quality and then make a value judgement. Example, I bought a commercial coffee grinder for $250. It will last a lifetime and THAT is a high “value” to me.
I do not care about brand name. There are more important factors.
I have fun seeing all those low self esteem lemmings exposing company logos on their shoes, clothes, etc. There are better words to describe them, but…. forum rules you know
Mike
I try to avoid loyalty to companies. The larger the company, the less loyalty. When it gets to very small businesses, it is more being loyal to and trusting a person (or a few people), and there are some that stand out. Emisar is noteworthy to me. Jaxman and Convoy also get my support. MTNElectronics and Led4Power get some of my monies for sure.
Nothing in particular, but I an very fond of Cree emitters. I have a Luminus and Convoy product coming on the slow boat from China, so that may change! Before I liked Streamlight, but you cab get something more powerful for a fraction of the cost… for cars I like Subaru wagons.
I look at Casio watches every time I want to buy a watch, but I always end up with a Timex.
I think Casio's are probably built better, but I like the aesthetics of Timex.
As for laptops/desktops, I don't buy them often enough to have a strong preference.
I just go for the best-bang-for-your-buck gaming PC, whatever that may be.
“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.” - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
I do. Sometimes wonder if they could really be real.
Surely nobody could look at themselves in several mirrors.
and have enough NON pride in themselves as to think they could look
anything but “”God Almighty”. Out in public.
WHAT are they.
