BRASS version CREE XM-L2 T6 1x18650 EDC Flashlight

I like it, a lot, and could care less about the deficiencies of brass…… tbh look at the modes, anyone stupid enough to let this overheat doesn’t deserve such a nice light.

No moonlight/firefly?
All edc lights should have one, IMO

CREE XP-G2 3B NW VERSION will come back Next week. Less brightness than XML2, but throws much better.
1.4A high>252

XML2 version might be wait another 2-3 weeks.
It dose get hot quick in high mode (2.8a) after 5 minutes, So do not recommend to run high mode over 10 minutes constantly.

Brass has less heat conduction than Aluminum, but much stronger.
Drop test from 1 meter, Brass has no any dent.

It’s a limit edition.
Price will be 42usd to 45usd including Registered shipping.

Thanks
RIC

I like the brass. It would be better with a moon mode for sure.

Are xpg2 and xml2 driven at same max level? (2.8A)
Whoops. We crossed posts…

I think the 1.4A xpg2 is the winner for me.

Any plans for a warm xpg2?? 7b?

XPG2 3B 4800K is available in our warehouse. It’s close to 3C tint.

WW 7B? Please Send me an email to cnqualitygoods@hotmail.com; maybe i can custom make one of these for you, if we can source back some XPG2 WW 7b tint.

Thanks
RIC

that would be awesome if you could ric, I’d certainly be up for a ww xp-g2 version.

Somehow warm seems very fitting for this bronze light. will email you Ric.

What’s the estimated delivery/arrival date?

Your specs say: Material: Brass

And with that color, it’s certainly not copper…

And that tiny amount of “not much” can really kill its thermal conductivity. Particularly any phosphorus…

Really like the size and look of this light.

How about making second batch like this in titanium with Nichia 219 @ ~1A high?

I like my copper Maratacs but I’ve always wanted a brass light…I’m quite tempted. There’s something reassuring about the heft of shiny brass gunmetal. Plus, most brasses do not oxidize as quickly as copper and a fine polishing job can further slow down oxidation. Brass is also germicidal thanks to its high copper content, if that matters any to you

The average brass alloy has about 80% the thermal conductivity of the average Al alloy. Brass’s (which alloy was tested, idk) volumetic heat capacity is close to copper. From MatWeb: Brass averages 119 W/m-K while Aluminum averages 151 W/m-K (ubiquitous 6061-T6’s is 152). Problem is you never know the constituent metals in brass flashlight parts so you could end up with a crappy alloy.

Not sure about it’s performance but I think it’s a nice looking torch. Would be a nice EDC

That thing is beautiful!
Will it have any kind of transparent coating on it? If not, it will tarnish beautifully, but also make hands stink like brass. I’m not even sure which one I’d prefer :stuck_out_tongue:

You might like something from Peak then. I have three of their lights in brass and like them very much.

I don’t have any brass Peaks, but my SS and alu eigers are great.

Hi RIC,

I have a AAA TrustFire that has a metallic tailcap switch, and it is really problematic. The clicky/button “sticks”, i.e., gets “caught”. Plus the metal button is counter-sunk into the tail, so it’s almost impossible to press reliably (e.g., to change modes). As a result, I put it away the day I got it, and have never really used it.

I notice that the tailcap switch on this light is also brass. Have you (or someone) else tried that clicky to make sure that it works smoothly and comfortably?

Just wondering.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi jim ,

I have used it for 3 days.

We have CQG S1 AAA and S2 before (sold out now) ,Which also come with SS metal tailcap. The SS cap performed flawless.

Brass light’s tail cap works much better than CQG S1 .

The tail cap click operate even better than Rubber cap.

Thanks
RIC

Hi,

Ok, thanks for that info and the quick response!

Jim

Hi,

One more question (2 really): How accessible is the pill (if there is a pill)? Would it be possible to buy this light in, say XM-L2, and also buy a pill with XP-G2, and then switch the pills on our own?

Or, since the XP-G2 is coming first, buy one with the XP-G2 and also buy one of the XM-L2 pills?

Thanks,
Jim
