I’ve been looking for a cheap (sub 20$) EDC single AAA light that has these 2 modes (L/M and H). For the Low or Medium mode I would like in the range of 10-15 lumens and for the High I would like close to a 100 lumens. Kindly suggest lights that might suit my requirements.
My other requirements are
Simple design not intricate looking
Twisty operation preferred
Only 1 side should open, either head or tail, but not both
Must work with Ni-Mh
Needs key ring hole
Reliable and water resistant for rain
Compact and should not be too long (Astrolux A01 size seems ok)
Should not be cool white, must be any tint under 5500K
If it has more modes then shouldn’t be Next mode memory
Exterior should be all of a single material, don’t want combination like rubber + aluminum
How about the LuminTop Tool AAA XP-G2 R5 (110 lumens) or Nichia 219BT (80 lumens), though these are 3-modes lights, currently on sale in GearBest for around $9.xx (the XP-G2 cool white is on flash sale, while the Nichia 219 neutral white using discount code to get to $9.xx).
LuminTop Tool AAA Nichia 219BT
(I remember testing a code that worked to bring price down to $9.xx; forgot what code though; saw it in one of the BLF threads, not sure if it still works now) https://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_637197.html?wid=21
I checked the LuminTop tool you suggested and it has 3 modes at 5, 32 and 110 lumens. While the High mode is satisfactory I did not like it’s low modes.
I also checked Tank007 and it also has the same problem, modes being at 3, 46 and 143 lumens. My requirement is that the low or medium mode be anywhere between 8 and 15 lumens.
Is it possible to change the firmware for these little edc lights or are they fixed?
Have you seen the Wuben brand?
Chech models E502, E503…
They have some lights with 2 modes taking 10440 Li-Ion (I guess they can also take AAA batteries, but you can ask the seller or Wuben member here on the forum), only 1 opening, and even in-built charger.
I don’t know about the tint if it fits the one you want, but take a look.
For a AA flashlight, with 2 modes, Solarforce X2.
Don’t know if the suggestions meet all your criteria, but…hope they help
Yes, mine does. I think the 3 modes are useful for camping where you need longer battery life, but for most of my uses I use single mode lights.
I don’t prefer next mode memory.

Wuben E502 looks good, fits most of my needs . But It’s lumen ratings are based on 10440 cell. Don’t know how much a NiMh would give, No idea about the tint either
Solar force X2 modes are good but I don’t like chrome steel finish. Also for AA edc lights I prefer side clicky.
