Now that I have a real flashlight 8) , I’d like to get a budget monocular to carry with me when walking my dog. My budget is $30-ish. I’m looking at the Carson 7x18 and the Mystery 6x18. I’d consider a small binocular… perhaps used. No need to have more than 8 power… 6 or 7 would probably be better at nighttime. It has to be small enough to fit in a big coat pocket.
Is there an opticsaholic website similar to BLF where members evaluate all the budget monoculars/binoculars? That w3ould be ideal. I’ve found some excellent flashlights on the websites recommended in this forum, but I’d never know which were okay and which were junk without testers from BLF giving reviews.
there shure is nothing like BLF but I just did a google search for 'binocular forum' and that came up with a few forums that looked usefull to me. I do not know which one is the best though..
My experience is that binoculars are much more convenient to use than monoculars, and in the binocular world -unlike with flashlights- it is pretty much what you pay is what you get: good binoculars are expensive. But on the other hand: nowadays there are very decent binoculars for less than 50 dollars.
