Maybe I was a bit too early when ordering a BD03 at BG instead of waiting for the thread opener to get it in stock at AliExpress with better quality maybe, but I needed it urgently as birthday gift.
Some thoughts about the BD03 from BG:
They sent wrong charger: US instead of EU.
The good: the internal charger is not overloading, it stops at appr. 4,17Volt so it’s save for non-flashaholics.
The bad: the internal charger stops at only 4,17Volt. Flashaholics won’t like.
You can use your mobile phone charger, the light isn’t taking more then 480mA.
Also bad for flashies: Spill and spot are not homogenous, several artefacts and hard corona around. Seems the LED is bit too deep and/or the bezel is interfering.
The whole body incl battery compartment becomes very hot when using on high (head gets >45°C). On one side that’s ok as the heat comes out, but hot battery is not needed.
The battery compartment fits well to unprotected and bigger protected cells like KeepPower or Enerpower.
Take care to install the battery correctly! The negative end towards the head, the positive towards the switch at the end.
The battery can’t be charged in its compartment outside the flashlights body, cause the connection of the negative end is missing then.
Nice tint of LED, not as cold as expected. Near to neutral white.
Absolutely bad: high mode is directly followed by strobe and SOS. That’s a no-go for me and not described in the text at BG. The memory is also remembering strobe/SOS.
The clip (which is not mentioned in the description at all) is made of hard wire and is very flimsy and scratching the body when wobbling up and down.
Very nice charging connector! It fits close and stable. Take care when removing it, do not lift at the USB micro, and touch it properly. It doesn’t seem to be constructed for hands like Godzilla.
It won’t get loose if connected once. It will also keep connection when shocked or vibrating on bad road or similar.
For whom to buy?
- for those who need a lightweight EDC with 18650 and internal charging
- for those who don’t have a clue about Li-Ion charging
- for those who need a alltime-ready flashlight for charging in the car or similar or a lightweight back up.
Buying again?
It’s not the quality I expected but - Yes! It will be the alltime-ready flashlight in my cars and as back up light when camping or so. It’s worth the little money. You only need to get an 18650 separately and you completed all whats needed.
I need another one, but then I will order at the Convoy Shop at AliExpress. (I am done with BG at all for several reasons, all about sending wrong or faulty stuff).
