Built-in Charger Torch recommendation

Looking for another nice torch to buy for my friend.

He likes built-in charging circuit, which means you can charge the battery within torch without taking battery out.
Maximum output higher than 300 lumen, and best if uses 18650 battery (more common size), single 18650 (more get bulky, etc)
of course better than moderate build, beam type is okay any in between, but not extreme (like super thrower or dedicated spiller)

I saw Nitecore P25 “smilodon” seems nice, but its not quite within budget. Any other recommendation ?

Smilodon is a ridiculous name for a ridiculous flashlight

Get the foursevens mmr-x. Multiple bezel options. Multiple switch options. Multiple user interface options. Micro usb charging. 18650. All included in the box.

Well, I can see mmr-x is quite a torchlight, with alot of options, etc. But it is way over budget.

If I would buy at such price, I would go for P25 instead because IMO its heat management is alot better. Unless I want to go for small, light easy carrying torch.

But I have to admit it do a very good job at making such as small and short light with inbuilt charging, but with requirement of special 18650 to support the charging, i’m not so interested in this.

LusteFire DV200 Cree L2 U2 LED Zooming Diving Flashlight

LusteFire DV200 is a damn big monster…. to the max power…. but too bad it only can stay at high, which I don’t really appreciate. The light need to work at close quarter sometimes, with this dedicated for diving, the temperature sure will be a problem since only HIGH 2.8A all the time.

Don’t get this one.
Mine worked for a week or two then the charging circuit inside the light burned up. I was using a protected cell so no catastrophe, just a lot of stink from the burned IC in the light.

Here are 2 new ones that look good.
Dipper BD01
Dipper BD03

+1 for the 2 dipper flashlights.

Cheaper here http://www.banggood.com/buy/dipper-bd.html

Use coupon BGFN for 10% off

I have the BD01 and I like the throw and charging LED indicator.

How does the mode changing work on the BD01? Do you have to cycle through the blinkie modes or are they hidden behind a double click, or long press?

I guess something gone between input and output, maybe shorted output. Not well protected, haha.

Wow, this seems good ! well, in my consideration, maybe its downside its heat transfer only.

These are alot cheaper ~ nice, XD BD01 a bit too big (in diameter) since I will use only 18650. A bit hard to enter pocket. (P25 also quite broad)
But both of this have the tail cap option, somewhat swivel USB adapter, seems prone to damage, less durable.

  • well, purpose of inbuilt charging is for my friend’s lazy habit to take out battery *

The switch is a mechanical clicky not a momentary. Unfortunately you have to go through the blinkies.

Fenix UC40.

Imalent DD2R is pretty nice. review link Was as low as $45USD

Variable brightness, unique interface, XM-L2, very good quality all around

haha, its quite similar to P25 in many ways, except smaller. But the price now isn’t cheap (WAS cheap)

How does the connector perform ? does it seems easy to come off or unreliable ? Charging circuit should be similar between model in BD series ?

Anyone tried All or few of Dipper BD series ? (01 02 03) I’m more interested in BD02 because smaller (18650) and ‘seems’ sufficient heat sink.

Couldn’t find any review regarding them. I guess because of new item.

If you’re looking for a deal, try sending Banggood a PM. He seems quite accommodating. Doesn’t matter if it’s the DD2R or some other light.

Thanks for the advise, will drop a PM after I make my mind on what possibly I want to get. I also currently get most things from banggood.

Charging cable and clip does not come off easily on my BD01. It takes a little force to pull off.

You will have to ask someone else on the charging circuit though.

what about quaity wise, how much would you recommend people of it ? any conclusion of advise regarding it before I grab it ?

The quality of the light is decent, not perfect but still quite good, anodization has some tiny flaws on my BD01. It's bright with 8 7135 chips for 2.8a. I have only charged it once so far but the indicator LED is really nice.

It has strobe and sos modes so I would recommend if you don't mind them. Also comes in a nice gift box. BG also gives your appropriate adaptor plug for the charger.
