Burnt emitter

I purchased a Convoy C8+ with:

LED type: W5050SQ3

Color temperature / Light color: 6500K

Driver type: 5amps 12groups buck

Turned on the light at night and went through all the modes. The second time I turned it on, it had a hole in the center of the beam. Played around with it a bit trying to figure out what was going on. I was pretty surprised when i got in the house and looked at the burnt led. I’ve had a lot of lights, many of them cheap, and have never seen anything like this.

Just contact Convoy after the Chinese holiday. Simon has some of the best CS around.

This was taken care of immediately. Great CS

Thats such a shame there, usually the w5050sq3 is fairly reliable. Glad you got sorted with Convoys CS. They should give you a new emitter and you solder it in yourself. Same thing happened to me with an amutorch dm90 where the sbt90.2 fried itself after just a couple of months of use.

He simply asked for my order number to send me a new flashlight, no questions asked.

Nice, that’s even better. Good luck with it let’s hope it serves you for a long time.

Wow, that’s incredible!!!

I would’ve been happy with just a new LED. But maybe it’s a driver issue?

If you can, you should take it apart to see if there are any obvious issues.
