Buying 18650's from a different batch

Hi:
About a month ago I had bought two 18650 3100 mAh batteries to use as spares from my local dealer which were dated Feb. 2013 and I have since decided to use these “spares” in conjunction with 2 more of the same size and maker,but my dealer has no more from the Feb.2013 batch,so is it o.k. to use two from a different batch,as long as the mAh are close? The two I already have are marked as 2956 and 2958 mAh. Thanks,HB

Are you going to be using these in series?

Not really sure,although I should know….but I saw somewhere that it is a 2S2P configuration. Thanks,HB

Are these protected or unprotected cells?

Even though you’re using them in series, you should be fine because they’re protected and show very similar capacities.

Unless you’re charging them in series without balancing, that is.
