I'm a capable modder but reflowing one emitter isn't my forte' no less multiples. So I bought a D18 from Vinh with 219B's-no way I was gonna take that on. Took ~3 weeks but worth the wait. One emitter went dead and he sent me a return label within the hour, I sent it to him and had it back within a week.
Those 219's in multiple are something to behold! Wish Nichia or one of the others would do a high power, modern emitter with the same tint(s).
i never bought any of his lights either, i have no doubt he’ll makes things right if something goes wrong, and he sounds like a very nice guy, i just do not see much appeal in lights that you can’t leave unattended, can melt things, and driven to the absolute limit.
But most of what we deal with here you would never leave unattended, and the appeal *is* driving them to the limit. Nice to have that power in reserve if only to wow the muggles.
Look at it this way: Fly higher, faster and further!
My first purchase was an RRT01VN with triple 219b SW45K. It is pretty much the perfect EDC with regards to simple utility.
I was so happy with that one, I ordered his flagship design - the SLN with quad 219b SW45K drop in. It’s a beast but it rides on my toolbelt at work because when I have my tool pouch on I can’t reach my pocket.
When the light arrived, one of the emitters was bad. As soon as I told him he emailed me a return label. He fixed it and set the turbo to 1,400 lumens so that it wouldn’t cook the emitters again. He left it on for a full battery cycle to make absolutely sure it wouldn’t happen again.
He’s a really good guy and now I wouldn’t hesitate to use friends and family.
