Can something like this be modified to suit flashlights?

Afaik there aren’t many mcpcb’s incorporating driver and led in the same board. Are there any available that can be reflashed?

2 Thanks

Could be useful for a build using a 12V or 18V power tool battery. But is it just one mode? Seems like that would be a downside. And the price…

Yeh, I’m guessing it’s one mode. I’d be more interested in something like this if it was single cell voltage. I don’t remember seeing a board like this with DTP. Seems like a good a good way to save space but single cell and modes is a must.

Zebralight is the only one that comes to mind for me (never seen it in person though).

Yeh, I’m not real familiar with zebralight either. I think they are potted to boot

The module you linked is likely using an integrated switching controller so it’s not really porgrammable. You can probably change some componnet values to change what current it’ll regulate it to, but if you want any control you’re better off designing your own driver or finding one that can be reflashed. They also used MCPCBs with vias which probably is why that board costs so much (BOM cost for all those components shouldn’t exceed $20)

I was thinking designing one is likely the best option but electrical engineering is way above my pay grade. If you know of any available units that can be reflashed please let me know :slightly_smiling_face:
