Part of the criteria for a charger is being able to use it when I go mtb / car camping to recharge the light’s batteries. The XTAR VC4 I would have to buy a good US plug in USB charger, like this one “Original Apple 12W USB Power Adapter A1401 18.88” (from HKJ’s list Test/Review index of all tested usb chargers ) The other really nice option is the NiteCore D4, but can’t charge over .375 amp in multiple bays.
Can I use any USB 2 Amp car adapter? (probably have to keep the charge rate down)
Is there a car adapter that will work with the Opus BT-3100? I’m concerned about a non-regulated connection if that charger cannot handle the 13+ volts of a car battery.
Suggestons? Oh, last question, is the Nitecore D4 going to be that much slower charging a 18650 (3000+mha) and 3 AA NiMh? I expect only to be charging AAA, AA NiMh and 18650’s.
That answers the Opus questions. Thanks tatasal, I probably have one of those laying around.
How about any old 2 amp USB car charger for the XTAR VC4?
Any suggestions for a good USB US style charger also that is cheaper than $18? Makes the XTAR VC4 a bit more expensive. And as far as charge times, that was a dumb question, I just have to go to HKJ’s charts. Duh.
Thanks for that information, Henry. I’ll still avoid plugging in something nice while cranking the engine, but it’s good to know that the charger is fairly tolerant.
