Carrying your spare batteries?

I use a TOMO M4 to carry/charge my 18650”s

I carry a 2xAA flashlight on my keyring. I carry two spare 1.5V lithium AA cells in a 3.5 x 4.5-inch HempMania zippered change purse attached to the keyring.

LOL! thanks for your support
I did not mean to nickel and dime anyone

Teacher the storacells are what I use in go bags. They are fantastic.

Yep, you are correct; they really are “fantastic” my friend!! :+1: …

And they make sizes to fit several different format batteries too, including some LiIon Rechargeables. Different colors too.

They have models that fit AAA, AA, C, D, 9V, CR123, 10440, 14500, & 18650 Batteries. Holding from 4 to 24 batteries, depending on battery size.

I first started using them way back when they first came out. The company was named ’Tools Aviation’ because the guy that invented & designed them was a pilot. In fact www.toolsaviation.com is linked to the new name ’Storacell’.

Here are a couple of the AA/14500 models.

Has anyone had any problems carrying spare batteries on an airline?

The TSA website has a list of what you can bring on carry-on vs in checked luggage, and other sites show conflicting information.

In any of the versions, it seems like carrying a spare flashlight seems to be the best answer.

I carry one of these Pelican 1010’s in my carry-on bag when I go on vacation. Water proof and has an air pressure release valve so you can open the case when changing altitudes. Fits 10 to 11 18650’s if need be. Work good for secure storage.

No lithium or lithium ion batteries in checked baggage. Carry-on only. I’ve never had a problem, and TSA wants to see spares in a container of some sort, not loose in a bag. Even with those little plastic boxes, tape them shut so they can’t accidentally open

I use a bigger pelican box too. They are great

I’ve never had a problem with flashlights or spare batteries. We went to Iceland & Dublin this past January and I had 5 18650 flashlights (family of 5) and 6 spare batteries in battery cases in my carry-on and there weren’t any questions at the 4 airports we passed through.

We make several trips overseas each year and spare batteries have never been an issue at any US or foreign airport.

Thanks all… It sounds like the secret is to have them in a case. That’s what I needed to know!

I was going to go the PVC or copper tube route but decided against it. Realistically I just want a plastic tube even if its flimsy and some flexible silicone rubber friction fit endcaps.

Either way I went with https://www.grainger.com/product/ASP-Battery-Case-for-AAA-Batteries-25VF12

but they arent waterproof.

I was going to get the CountyComm ones, but they are exactly the size you need for a standard AA or AAA but almost none of the unprotected 14500 or 10440s I have would fit according to the specs.

Thanks teacher. Purchased 12 x AAA holders - not offered on Amazon:

Also the Storacell belt pouch:

FWIW, this promo is good until 21 Dec 18. It's a good deal, and thanks again.

Next time you are in Walmart, check out their $1.00 crayon case:

They hold two rows of 18650 batteries almost perfectly. I have one that I throw my 18650 batteries into when they come out of the charger. They are very handy for 18650 bulk storage. They also come in colors. The lid lifts off entirely - which I generally leave it off for easy battery access. It should work OK for AA/14500 batteries too.

Edit: It is difficult to close the lid with more than nine 18650 batteries.

AAA’s will fit in a dental floss case; just pop out the spool.

Single 18650 carrier:

I’m using storacell and thyrm cellvault.

sorry, old picture. I no longer using alkaleak.

My pleasure!! :+1: …. I got a few more myself.

I buy lightweight plastic cases on ebay. The ones for 2 AA go for 99 cents but on auction I get them for 25 cents apiece or so. The other cases are for 4 AA and you can occasionally score 5 or 10 for a buck, but tha’s gotten harder lately.
Example of a recent 2AA:

I use storacell for my AA’S & 14500’s but I find they’re not perfect for protected 14500’s because they can come out gaily easily ,they are slightly longer & don’t clip in properly like AA’s
