Cat fight

Last night there were two cats fighting in the car park outside. I used my EA4W to see as it was quite dark, and it surprised me that they both sat down after I shone the light on them. Part of me is worried I may have temporarily blinded them even though it was on low mode. They both looked at me/into the beam! >.<

Funny how animals are with lights. I’ve yet to see a cat or dog look away quickly, even with throwers pointed at them. I think their eyes are fundamentally different in the way they perceive light.

Unlike us, they do not know to not avoid looking into the light. Just in case it causes damage, I would avoid pointing towards their eyes as much as possible. I've had to repeatedly tell some people to not look towards me when I am welding.

If I need to see what my dogs or cats are up to and they are looking my way, I only let the spill hit them.

Huh, one wonders if greater care needs to be used in that regards while lighting up wooded areas hunting. I guess the most danger would be the aspheric throwers.

None of the flashlights we use are that dangerous. At least not at some distance.

Even aspherics light up a relatively large area, and so there is very low risk of permanent damage from any kind of distance.

You'll flash blind the target, but that's about it.

Don’t worry Chloe, you didn’t blind them, the police broke them up before you arrived

I once noticed a bunch of martens having a party in my neighbour's garden in the middle of the night.

When I shone my P60 on them, they looked directly at me as well, but they didn't seem to be disturbed by the light. They were more curious than anything else. Looked great to see four pairs of glowing eyes staring back at me

I did catch a cat on camera!

Just don’t shine into their faces for a long time.

One time I was arc welding outside and I glanced up to find my dog curiously looking at what I was doing…he was sleeping inside when I started.

It didn’t seem to hurt him, but I made a mental note to keep him away after that.

A few years ago we had a golden retriever and I happened to notice he was watching me arc weld. I put him out of the shop, but the next day his eyes were very blood shot and tearing, I felt really bad… It did not seem to permanently damage his eyes though.

This is the same dog that as soon as I cracked a valve on my acetylene torches would take off like a scalded cat.
I don’t know why he was so terrified of my torches.

HD5, maybe he didn’t like the sound they make?

Sure they were… fighting?

There are cats around my house who “fight” like every night. You can hear them from quite a distance. I guess they enjoy their fights.

Of course they enjoy, We all would like to “fight” every night

It took me far too long to realize what yall were talking about.

They weren’t attached to each other, if that’s what you were thinking. >.<
