Cells Arriving Fully Charged?

I have ordered two sets of Efest 10440 cells from completely different suppliers and all four have measured around 4.1 - 4.2v out of the box.

What’s more, they don’t seem to be able to put out more than 1.7A and they have reduced capacity too.

They have the stickers to confirm authenticity and seem to be legit but surely these must be returned used abused cells? There are no obvious markings to indicate use.

I have four from last year that were delivered with the correct storage voltage of 3.6 –3.7v and they still put out more current than these new cells.

Anyone else having this problem with cells being fully charged / faulty when delivered?

Yes, it does indeed seem that you got second hand cells.

I would contact the supplier and ask what is going on. The problem may be further up the chain, since you report the same problem from more than one supplier.

Even without reduced capacity, reduced amps, new batteries should arrive at storage voltage. That’s enough to show they are used and warrants a refund.
Resellers should only be buying batteries direct from efest. If they are buying from anywhere else then old, used or counterfeit should be expected.
Who sold these to you?

Yeah, just confirming my thoughts.

The first set were from svapo web, who refunded me immediately without question. First time purchase from them.

The second set that i got yesterday were from ecoluxshop who i’ve bought various stuff from before and always been happy.

No real problems except trying to get decent cells.

Here’s the chat i had with them.

Me:

Hi, i have a problem with these cells.

I have just opened them today and they both had voltage of around 4.2v.
This is not the correct storage voltage from the factory and shows these cells have been charged.
Furthermore, they seem to have a high internal resistance and reduced capacity.

Maybe these are returns?

Thanks

Hi, good evening , thanks a lot you text me about the issue
wtith the AAA size Efest batteries.
im really sorry to hear they were charged ,
but can make you 100% sure they are genuine ,

to be honest i didnt open all of the boxes and i cant check all of the voltage reading
they coming 1000’s by one order just from Efest .
Please dont worry about , i will ship free replacement immediately tomorrow
will double check the voltage and will attach pre -paid envelope for returns.
im already print your new postage label -)
best regards

Excellent outcome, very professional practices from ecoluxshop and makes me want to buy form them in the future

Hmm very strange, i got 4 of those from svapoweb a couple of months ago and they were genuine according to the scratch sticker nr, and if i remember correctly they arrived at 2.8v. I haven’t tested amp output on them but i have used them & compared them to other efest 10400 i bought last year from fstoplights that also arrived at the correct storage voltage.

And i can’t see any difference in output between the svapoweb cells & the others, and i use them hard  i run all of them DD with a XP-L V6 & regularly charge them to 4.25v for a lot of extra output at start.

I found the svapoweb webshop at efest own webpage, if they are sending out bad cells i would contact efest about if, i think svapoweb has an exclusivity deal in the region they are operating in, and if they are sending out bad cells that is not ok, but if they are getting bad cells directly from efest i am sure efest want to know about it.

And thanks for the heads up CRX

Received the two new cells from ecoluxshop today along with a prepaid return envelope.
Excellent service.
