ChangDa SFY55 any thing beats it yet ?

i want to upgrade my BLF GT from XHP70.3 Hi to anything better

will this ( ChangDa SFY55 ) be better ? i want to try it for big high intense bright beam

IF no what do you suggest an upgrade to the XHP70.3 Hi with small footprint for a throw with big lumens number

For a balance of lumens AND throw, you probably want one step down from the SFY55, which is the SFP55, or the next step down again, the SFH55. The SFY55 is great if you have a driver that’s going to push 300W+ to really start maxing it out, but at the same time, due to it’s massive LES, you need a giant reflector. The other frustrating thing about SFY55 is it requires giant non-standard MCPCBs to mount it, and I have had to machine them by hand to fit in my various mods.

The SFP55 (or SFH55) will put out a noteworthy amount of lumens, but has a more manageable LES that is easier to fit in a reflector, and will max out by a more reasonable 180W, which is still much better than something like the LHP73B.

The downside is if you want to retrofit a light that takes XHP70.3, you will need a 6v or 12v version of the SFP55. These do exist, but I have only seen them sold on Fujian Chengda Optoelectronics shop on Taobao. Kaidomain only has the 3v versions. Or you could change the driver to some 3v drivers maybe.

I have a couple of lights that have the 2 LEDs mentioned above by elemental.

SFP55.2 (in my Nightwatch 103S) would definitely meet your requirement, 13000 lumen, 680m throw, in Nightwatch host. The power is unbelieveable from a single LED. The light is intensely bright and easily gives a floody wall-of-light effect. Not super throwy though.

SFH55 (in Mateminco PD90S) 7400 lm, 760m throw. Very nice, but once you have seen SFP, I think you are going to have to go with SFP over SFH.

That new Nightwatch LED N7-170HP (in Nightwatch LW55, don’t know voltage or if it’s available for sale) has impressive brightness AND great throw, although I don’t know if it’s available for sale. 8200 lm, 870 m throw. Turbo as expected to be used in short 15 sec burst only. 7070 foot print, brightness in between the above 2, but out-throw both of them. I love this LED/light.

1 Thank

First thing first, does it even fit?

On top is the xhp70.3hi, and the bottom right? SFY55

2 Thanks

thank you all for your answers, please allow me to ask my question in different way
i have been busy for a while and the LED world is growing very fast so i have an outdated information so please educate me

i have a BLF GT with XHP-70.3 Hi so is there a new LED that can outthrow my current LED but with maintaining the same lumens or even much better lumens ? despite the voltage or Driver specs

my target is to see good visible objects at 1 kilometers with wide beam

There is one LED in the LW55 V2, but it isn’t easily available yet.

Maybe the SFT90 could do what You want? About 5k lumens but way more candelas with same footprint

Isn’t the driver on these lights putting out 12V? Are you planning to change the driver? If so, I’d also be interested to know what you’re using, my XHP35 BLF GT is fun but I’m itching to try a different driver/ LED in it…

3 Thanks

The GT70 is 12 volts as I remember like the original GT. To make a 3v led work, youd need the GT90 driver and fix the cell carriers to run parallel.
