With you completely on that! The giving up on ownership for subscriptions is simply unsustainable wealth concentration. I too may be an old dinosaur that may indeed be close to extinction but having control over the data you create is something that should not be so casually dismissed. The Apple 1984 commercial may have just been a marketing thing but the effects were real and I just don’t see how going back to what is effectively the old mainframe model where just a few central authorities control everything is going to be good in the end. People are just becoming different forms of lemmings like in that old commercial. From my perspective it sure looks like human intelligence is receding rather than expanding as it should.

I was asking chatgpt what it thought was the best LED color temperature in a flashlight or a headlight for different situations and at one point it suggested 5000k-8000k for something, I wanna say it was for camping or hiking, something outdoors. But I can’t remember. And I was like really chatgpt? 8000k? And it said yep, 8000k. And I’ve never gotten it to say 8000k again. 5000k-6500k is the highest I’ve gotten since. But I know it recommended an 8000k LED at one point I swear.
I’ll try and get it to answer questions sometimes instead of using Google, and most of the time its hard to get a good answer out of it. It doesn’t like to get specific or speculate and it contradicts itself all the time. But every now and then it comes up with an answer for something that’s so specific that I could never find a straight answer for anywhere and it’s like wtf how did you know that?
