Do you like Chinese food? If so what is your favorite dish?
I love chinese food and my favorite dish is General Tso’s Chicken (white meat only.) Seriously, thats how you order it in NYC.

Kung Pao chicken is my go-to but I’ll generally eat it all at my regular spot. Whenever I try a new spot I always start with the Kung Pao…
We eat Chinese food a lot since 1) we’re in San Francisco next to lots of Chinese restaurants, and 2) we’re 2nd generation Chinese. It’s impossible to pick a favorite food because of the many options, not to mention the different regional choices (Szechuan, Cantonese, Eastern region, Western region, etc.
But I am partial to properly prepared Peking Duck, Chilean sea bass (which is really Patagonian toothfish, and bird’s nest soup (made from from saliva of certain birds).
When I was a kid we used to drink a lot of shark’s fin soup but that’s no longer available in the USA (and for good reasons.)
Last place I worked, I’d hit the local chineese food place probably 4×/week.
My go-to was shrimp with broccoli, white rice, but would just try different things, from Gen Cho chicken, egg with tomato, chicken curry, chicken garlic sauce, shrimp curry, shrimp garlic sauce, the grambbled (that’s how it was spelled on the menu!) egg with rice, egg foo yeung, tai chien chicken, pan-fry wonton, chow mein, lo mein, shrimp toast… pretty much sampled most of the menu.
Damn, I just et and now I’m starving just thinking about all that.
Just thinking, I reeeeeally miss that place. I used to walk in, one of the grils there would just call out a suggestion, I’d be like, “Sure, sounds good!”, and yeah, would hit the spot.
Closed for “renovations” during The Plague, dunno if they ever reopened. Week after that, everyone was wfh, and never really got the chance to go back to that nabe.
Like I said, reeeeeeally miss that place.
So used to the Canto region stuff. Braised stuffed tofu or eggplant, stir-fry bitter melon with eggs, steamed rockfish with ginger, green onions, topped with heated oil and soy sauce. Getting hungry over here. Also, can’t go wrong with some congee with thousand year old egg and pork, with plenty of chopped green onions and white pepper.
Congee is good but one also needs the fried bread sticks along with it!
Same here.
The last Chinese food place that I went to had terrible Kung Pao chicken.
My family and I are not going back there.
There’s another Chinese food place that I like, but I haven’t been there in years.
I don’t remember what I ordered there, but I do tend to like Kung Pao chicken.
Whatever I ordered there, it was a combo with a nice variety of Chinese food.
My local Chinese place does a curry that’s somewhere between Chinese curry and Thai green curry, it’s yummy!
Then you’re definitely asking the right person!
These are the dishes I thought were delicious and saved to my photo album.
And who does not like a hot crispy egg roll.
I can eat egg, but I don’t like the flavor of egg rolls.
Cashew Chicken.
Chris
I like either General Tso’s chicken with white rice. Or beef fried rice. I’m pretty simple with my Chinese order.
Oh, and crab rangoon.
Moo Goo Guy Pan, Beef with Broccoli, pork fried tice. Crispy noodles. My typical order. Plenty left to take home.
Too many, hard to name them, but if I have to say something, rice rolls.
