By my standards, I purchased a considerable amount from china sites. I have had orders get behind because of international customs clearances those delays are at the mercy of government bureaucrats there in the EU and china has no control over that. Current world events has caused US/EU Customs to take a closer look at some things, a fact I can verify first hand, whether that shifts manpower or slows mail because of direct inspection I do not know but I have noticed a delay in international shipments from China.
I have an order from Banggood coming to Canada, sent middle of November, still no dice, i called Canada post, they said the customs wait for packages is currently 38 days :person_facepalming:
Plus one month delivery, it will probably show up the end of January
Oh, that explains a banggood order of mine that was sent middle of November, and still no sign of it. Strangely, a couple of gearbest orders done late November arrived in only 2.5 weeks. I guess it just depends whether customs wants to delay it or not.
I wonder if this is what is delaying my late November GB order for the BLF348’s with the last group buy. I didn’t pay for tracking but have still been able to track via the NL Post number to US Customs on December 11th where it says “Transfer of Customs.” I’m patient and I understand shipping delays at Christmas but two weeks for in-country shipping must mean customs inspections.
That said, I may just order from US Dealers or Amazon in the future and pay the extra premium. I was hoping to have the lights here by Christmas. That’s my bad, though. I should not have been so cheap and paid for the expedited shipping with tracking. Live and Learn.
Even that’s no guarantee. I ordered an A01 from Amazon (Hizek is the seller) early early in December, and the LT-number says it’s still in China. I emailed Hizek, and they said something about customs holding it up, but they nicely refunded my bux. No idea if I’ll still get it if it ever clears customs or if it just went to /dev/null, but at least I got the refund.
It’s more expensive now to reorder, so I think I’ll pass. I ordered it originally just for s&g, but I don’t want it that badly.
Well I just put in another small order with FastTech. But this time I selected the free shipping through Hong Kong Post shipping option. I’m hoping that may help a little since my Hong Kong Solarforce order didn’t get hung up at all. I’m still picking up parts and pieces from Chinese sellers in case a tariff is imposed in February…
In December 2016 I got 20+ packages from China, with one lost. So it’s just the Xmas rush. The one that was lost were 2 hand warmers with Lithium batteries. There was a tracking number given to me but it was never updated, not even to say it got to the Chinese post office, so I assume someone stole it between the company and Chinese post office.
If it didn’t get to the post office they should replace it. Or maybe someone in the shipping department just lost the order and they have a poor tracking system.
Well it aint a Xmas rush, i have 30+ orders from BG, Ali and fasttech on hold from early and late nowember, also from december…even several from late october…and i must say i`ve never had that huge delays from China
If it helps anybody (my longest shipment to date from China by far)…my GB order placed Dec. 8th and sent via Netherlands Post surface mail (aka Beishesheng Logistics) has been hung up in US customs since the 18th of December.
Christmas Rush started a bit early I just started getting some things from Banggood ordered mid-later November. Usually they are faster, but they took a week to ship them and that put them in the process quite later. Basically I’ve been getting 50day deliveries which is longer than usual. I’m trying not to order anything until after the Chinese New Year, but I did put in a couple orders this week. That’s it I hope until March…. I really hope.
I order and don’t check on shipment until 40 days after, if I have not received my merchandise. There “Tracking” is a joke and I won’t pay for it. Only get tracking if it is free. Then on the 40th day, I email them AFTER I file my PP dispute.
Never lost a dime so far. Lost plenty of packages and time. Doing it this way, sometimes you will end up with two packages of the same stuff. They always send a message saying, “If you get the package, Pls send it back”. I am like, Yeah I am going to get right on that. :innocent:
Also, when I order from China, I set a alarm 40 days out on my phone. With a reference in the notes to the order. I have found that works best for me. Otherwise, I can’t keep track of stuff.
I may order junk for one light from 3 different places. Then I remember something else and order that. Next thing I know 5 orders coming my way.
