Hi …I wasnt sure which actegory to list this under, but has anyone bought one of these:
It plugs direct into a car cigarette lighter to recharge, very cheap…any good ?

None of them put out much light. A few of them have an almost OK charging circuit. A LOT of them have a seriously dangerous charging circuit.
i always suspected that, i don’t trust chinese car electronics
might be interesting to try modding one with an xp-e underdriven to say 150-200ma. It would still put out way more light than the original emitter, and you could touch up the charging circuit while you’re at it. not much room for a pill though so you’d have to keep it seriously underdriven, but it /could/ theoretically be done.

Had one of these for 4 years or so still going strong, not the brightest but good enough when something drops in to the footwells or back of my Land Rover.
