Not exactly flashlight related but I figure if anyone on any of the forums I’m on could help this would be the place…
I have an EOTech 511 on my primary carbine the one thing I don’t like about it is it has to be turned on every 8 hours if you want it to always be on whenever you would go to grab it.
I’m hoping one of you smart people here could tell me how I could disable the clock so it is always on. I don’t care about battery life (that’s another topic, I’ve done extensive testing over the last 2 years and I’m getting around 1700hours at the brightness I have it set to off a single set of Energizer L91’s).
I have not opened it yet to even have a look inside, is this something that’s likely doable or will I just be waisting my time opening it and exposing the inside to dust?
I suspect you will make a couple mistakes by opening it. First, you will void any warranty you may have. Second, after opening you will probably find the electronics are potted to lessen effects of recoil.
I could very well be wrong, but I wouldn’t open one for those two reasons.
I’m not too concerned about the warranty, my buddy has one he owned for over 10 years before it went out, he called them and said he knew it was way out of warranty but what options did he have to get it repaired, they replaced it no questions, not fixed, replaced.
And about the aimpoint, I dont care for them, I hate how thats the only real option for a mil-spec, on-all-the-time, high quality 1x RDS. Thanks for those videos, I’ll have to watch them tonight when I have time. I’m really hoping there is some way to go about it. If i open it and it breaks that’ll suck but I’m willing to chance it if there is even a slight possibility of being able to accomplish this, if it’s doable it would make the EOTech the perfect sight [for my needs with this carbine].
