The original optics on the HP1 is good only if you want really wide flood along with some throw in the other useful mode, so I’m sure for your purposes you have a better pattern as well as more light.
The reason I asked is that I have been thinking of experimenting with a zoomy triple. I don’t really expect it to work well, but I might try it anyway.
