[Community poll——SOFIRN New Task Light design of emitters combination]

Hello BLFers,

  • Main light+ red light + UV light
  • Dual LEDs control CCT adjustable between 3000K-6000K + red/UV light
  • Spot light+ flood light+ red/UV light
0 voters

The switch on the side and same as IF24. Which one would you think more suitable for regular people?

3 Thanks

And please:
-both white lights with rosy 4500K high CRI
-regulation reference:

-USB-C charging
-good water resistent
-lock out button with ON and OFF position
-direct access to moon light and turbo
-customizations:
mode memory ON/OFF
Strobe ON/OFF

4 Thanks

Got it! I will feedback to Sofirn factory immediately.

The switch of the IF24 is fine, but hopefully it has the UI of the IF23 Pro.

Wellp, in any adjustable-CCT light, I’ve never ever willingly selected CW, usually only have it pegged at WW and leave it forever.

We already got the HS21 and HS42, and the '42 can be pulled off and used as a nornal right-angle flashlight (as I always do). So another version of that combo might just be another “me too!” light.

Spot+flood is a great combo, though. My only druther would be that spot would be warmer and higher-CRI to match flood, which is about perfect.

So main+red+UV sounds great. 4000K might be perfect as a compromise as “white” without being “overly warm” (despite what I’d want :joy:) and I’d be 100% fine with that.

Spot light+ flood light+ red/UV light would be the most usable in my opinion out of those three. Also please put buck or boost driver there.

The only game changer I see from your listed options is adjustable CCT for the main LED bank. Other than that, I would suggest luminance ramping capabilities of colored LED’s.

For an EDC I would agree with the choice of 4000K/4500K, but as a task light I believe 5000K/5700K in neutral tint (not rosy) is a more appropriate choice.

4000K can be yellow enough (e.g., in daylight or cool background lighting) to distort colors. For example, light yellow stain on white cloth is nearly invisible during the day under 4500K light, but pops immediately under 5700K. On the other hand, while 5700K can seem harsh, it does better at rendering colors objectively–exactly as it would appear in noon sunlight. For a task light, I think seeming harsh in certain situations is a lesser evil than being too yellow to distinguish colors reliably.

5000K would be a good compromise between the two influences. And the choice of neutral over rosy tint is justified by the same reasoning as above.

Interesting question.

I once had a sailor ask for a duty light with a red emitter for night use to avoid compromising night vision, and the only game in town was the by then discontinued Nitecore EC21 so I reluctantly sold him mine.

Agreed. Artificially tinting everything pink is not accurate colour rendering.

I don’t want any of these. I’m still waiting for the Grandma light, the Djozz magnetic ring control light. Sofirn, please make this!!! You will have a market for this as this would be the one and only magnetic ring control light with USB-C charge!

2 Thanks

I suppose it is okay. Let me feedback to Sofirn factory right now lol

Funny, 'cause I just rediscovered my non-working SF13 that I put aside years ago to “fix it later”. Alkaleaks crapped the bed like Amber Heard and destroyed the contacts/spring inside.

Wellp, I finally redid the contacts/spring, and it works again. Of course, it got diffusion film for a nicer beam (don’t recall what it was originally), and aside from being CW (yecch), it might make a nice granma light.

Maybe something like that in 4000K, usb charging, and the double-length “141000” Li cell like the Acebeam 2AA Pokomon uses. But it’d have to be threadlocked to keep smoothbrains from trying to “charge” a set of alkaleaks, and thus not dual-fuel.

Just make the rear button neon orange or something so granma knows where to press. And maybe only low/high. Or maybe only single-mode on/off like that dinky all-white “Lady Xoiumi” light that came out ages ago like it was so revolutionary.

Or instead of Basic Black, a high-vis color like lemon-yellow or orange…orange. And contrasting button.

Or instead of mech tailswitch, a sideswitch (needs to accommodate charging, after all) that does this. Soft-touch. Big. Contrasting color.

The best hope I had for a granma light was the OG SC31 with nice big clunky sideswitch, before it got roid-rage with each succeeding ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘pro’, etc., version which just turned it into yet another “Meeeee toooooo!” tubelight.

But every time someone asks “what should I get granma as a nice simple light she can use with her arthritic hands?”, I just point them to the ancient-tek 2AA Maglites. Twist on, twist off, done. Totally retarded light, crap beam, but it’s simple to use, well beyond any “modern” flashlight. I even offer to slap on some diffusion film to unshittify the beam.

That should say a LOT.

Also been waiting for a relaunch of the C01S. They would be the best AAA light on the market now if they were still available–why were they discontinued @sofirnlight? Any plans to bring them back?

It seems the most popular you selection now. Let’s do that lol

Yep, even if most people choose the Spot+Flood+red/UV light option. We will make new model come with adjustable CCT function in the future.

If possible, the SST20 deep red would be my choice for the red emitter.
