Imo Otterbox is just great with excellent customer service!
Buy the cheaper DX case instead!
Pelican has no such issues. They are much (MUCH) better designed.
The closest (size) Pelican I could find to compliment your Otterbox 3000 is the Pelican 1120
It’s pretty reasonably priced at $25.62 and it’s made from much better material.
Not bad considering that Pelican cases are all tested for vibration, temperature (both hot and cold) survivability and impact.

Meanwhile i found this interesting drop test video. it shows that Pelican cases suffer from the fragile points/weak parts in the system: the latches and the back joints. They *will* break when hitting clean hard plane smooth floor (e.g. bathroom tiles). Small drops would suffice to damage these parts. They could be compared to the fragility of flashlight lenses. Flashlights should never be dropped 100% vertically onto their heads; the impact will destroy the glass lens or the battery will crush the PCB of the driver. We learn that Pelican cases should never be dropped onto their back joints or the front latches. Promised, they will break:
