Hey there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts—we really appreciate the feedback. You’re right, the WF-501B is definitely a classic (it’s been around forever!), but we’ve actually rolled out a ton of new products over the years that are designed to compete head-to-head with the best in the industry. Our newer models feature multi-mode options, improved build quality, and modernized designs. For example, check out our latest lineup here: UltraFire New Arrivals: Tactical & Hunting Flashlights with 2000LM High-Intensity, UV Detection & USB-C Rechargeability
Thanks again for keeping it real. Enthusiasts like you push us to do better.
Yes, the single mode threw me at first- it’s the only drop in I’ve got that’s single mode. I can’t remember what came in my 10yo one when it was new.
I was browsing online yesterday and you can even get XHP35.2 drop ins - they’re not the new 3V version either. The CCT choices included some warmer whites.
@UltraFireOfficial some small simple things like applying a dab of grease to the threads and o-rings make a difference too. Unscrewing a torch that has rough feeling threads doesn’t give a good first impression. Publishing the exact model LED that’s fitted would be a good step forward, along with the driver specs (current for each level.)
Ok, I checked the newer models and found a lot of strange stuff:
some look light cheap Aliexpress noname models, especially the Z10 (are these re-labeled?)
some lights look extremely cheap even on images on website (SK98, SH-16027)
no exact information about drivers, LEDs (“Ultrafire LED” lol? “white Laser diode” for Z10 - lol?)
weird mode spacing (800 lm is the lowest mode?! - Z10)
no information about mode spacing, no information about brightness (cd) for some lights, in general: inconsistent item description
SOS and strobe in regular mode order? wtf? (T5)
And this is only stuff I found quickly in ten minutes of looking at your products.
With all this stuff, the thing is - why would I even consider buying an Ultrafire? I can buy noname products from Amazon (sometimes even with next-day delivery) or buy Sofirn/Wurkkos, which also have extremely attractive prices and above all offer more information and look less like relabeled products.
In addition, there is the reputation of only dealing with fakes, because all kinds of manufacturers have put the “Ultrafire” label on some cheap lamps.
But still they are somewhat outdated, in design, features, drivers… Like I wrote above. Why choosing UF instead of Wurkkos/Sofirn? This is huge competition with attractive price and (relative to the price) good products.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback—I really appreciate it. I fully accept your criticism and will work on improving our product listings and design information. Please allow us a bit of time to address these issues. Your insights are incredibly helpful, and I’m grateful you’ve brought them to our attention.
Yes, I did say “look more modern”. The technical aspects are a different matter.
I’ve had a couple of cheap no name flashlights to review recently. Sometimes they actually have good features, they’re just poorly implemented (and built.)
