Contour Energy AAA Ni-MH

Are they really eneloops? Mine arrived today.

Here they are next to second and third gen AAA. Top is very white compared to the grey-white on the other cells:

Eneloopy dog says 3 out of 4 are red, fourth is orange. :_( So they are pre-charged but really low out of the pack. All my eneloops come green, very rare one is yellow brand new.

Currently doing a refresh charge on them…

Did eneloopy lie to me? No. Is he really fussy? Yes. My charger pulled ~550mAh from all cells before going into charge mode.

Capacity after charging (848, 853, 864, 871 mAh):

Date code 11-06 LU, made in June 2011:

These have been discussed before here and here (& the green/cyan ones tested by HKJ here).

I know consensus was that they are rebranded eneloops, but I don’t recall any mention of poor state of charge from “brand new”.

Are they really old stock 1st gen?

I just realised you have the AAA - it was the AA I was thinking of - sorry. I gave all the Contour AA cells I bought away, and didn’t check their capacity. Where did you get them? Icell media on Amazon?

I got these from iCell Media too.

I am trying to find indication of when they were manufactured. The package has copyright 2011 on it and says “for optimum performance, charge before use”.

have a look at this post Long-term test Contour NiMH

Thanks, Squidboy! Mine were made June 2011 (says 11-06 LU).
