Hi all, new to the forum.
I was wondering if there was a way to swap the Convoy 3X21D electronic side switch to be illuminated similar to the Sofirn side switches? The parasitic drain would be a consideration but with 3x 21700 batteries on this light I don’t know if it will ever be a problem.
Is there a reason that Simon doesn’t design Convoy lights with illuminated side switches like Sofirn/Wurkkos do?

Many Convoy lights come with illuminated side switch. I guess it’s just this specific model that doesn’t have one.
TBH for such a big utility focused light (no pun), I wish the switch button can be made of hard plastic or metal, instead of soft rubber. Since it would be more durable.

I wonder if it’s silicone or actual rubber. Rubber degrades quickly, but silicone is amazingly resilient, it’s hard to cut it up if one tried, and almost completely resistant to plastic deformation, i.e., shattering or denting. Metal switches do look nicer, but the waterproofing seems harder to implement.
The switch is illuminated but only takes the charging signal from the PMIC and is otherwise not used by the firmware. Large sodacan lights will have enough space for a custom driver and Atmel MCU to flash Anduril on should you be interested, but generally unless you change the firmware and add some bodge wires the switch LEDs won’t light up ile lights running Anduril.

Yes the switch is illuminated but only as a charging indicator. It never lights up during use.
I just wish it worked like the Sofirn side switches but my understanding is that it would require a different driver or an Anduril piggyback driver board.
I saw somewhere once where that was done but haven’t gone looking around yet for someone that has done it on the 3X21D.
